Phone number ☎️ 02086347617 👆 is reported as a persistent scam targeting UK residents, with callers posing as Royal Mail employees claiming parcels are held due to unpaid postage fees, often around £1.55. Callers typically know the recipient’s name but provide no parcel details or verifiable information, pressuring for email addresses or bank details. The callers frequently use a foreign accent and avoid answering specific questions, sometimes instructing recipients to pay via suspicious links or phone payments. Genuine Royal Mail never requests payment this way nor calls to collect fees - official procedures involve physical red cards or digital notifications from verified sources. Users are advised not to share personal or financial information, to refuse suspicious requests, and to report such calls to the authorities.

I got a call from a polite lady with an Indian accent saying I had a parcel waiting at the local post office. She had my name but was oddly persistent about getting my email address. When I asked why, she said Royal Mail stopped leaving delivery cards through the letterbox, so to prove it was genuine, I needed to give her my email. I gave her a fake email, but she kept telling me to check all my email folders, including spam, so she could assist with the email. I told her I was about to join a meeting and would look into it afterwards.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Royal Mail saying I needed to pay £1.55 for a parcel that apparently had no postage. I asked her to tell me the address on the package but she said she couldn’t, because it was 'kept at their office.' I told her to hang on a sec, muted the call, put down my phone and looked up the number online. Found this website right away. She didn’t even hang up straight away, just waited about two minutes before ending the call.

Received a call claiming there was an Amazon delivery supposed to come via Royal Mail, but the postage fees were apparently outstanding, and they required me to settle it. The caller only had my name, so I responded that I would verify whether I was due a package, as sellers typically notify you if there are payment issues. I then ended the call. Whenever I probed for more information, her responses were limited to "I'm not sure", "I don’t have that information", and "I only know it's meant for you". What a pointless interruption during my workday!

Received a rather dodgy call claiming to be from Royal Mail, stating there was an issue with a parcel. They asked if I'd like the details on what to do next. Apparently, there was some sort of mix-up with the postage concerning the weight of an Amazon item I’d ordered from a London retailer. I didn’t buy into it at all - this isn’t how genuine issues are handled, so I hung up.

Like many others, I received a call from someone claiming to be from Royal Mail, insisting I needed to fork out £1.55 for delivery of an unstamped package. When I inquired about the address linked to this parcel, she claimed she couldn't access it as it was 'secured in their office'. I asked if she would mind holding for a moment, quickly muted the call, placed the phone down, and took to Google to investigate the number, which led me here. She only hung on the line for a mere two minutes before deciding to disconnect.

I just had a rather dodgy phone call from a foreign woman claiming to be from Royal Mail. She insisted that I needed to fork out £1.55 for the postage of an unstamped parcel supposedly coming from Amazon. I was rather sceptical since Amazon typically doesn’t use Royal Mail for deliveries. She replied that any parcel from abroad would indeed be handled through Amazon. Then she proceeded to ask for my email address to send over payment details. To be on the safe side, I contacted Amazon, and they confirmed that my parcel is set to arrive tomorrow via their own service. Clearly, this was a scam! Stay vigilant, folks!

Received a call from someone pretending to be affiliated with Royal Mail, requesting £1.55. Instinctively, I realised it was a con, so I suggested I would prefer to handle the payment face-to-face. They then provided an address: South London Mail Centre, 53 Nine Elms Lane, SW8 5BB. Oddly enough, that location is a relic of the past, having been demolished some time ago. It leads me to speculate that these fraudulent individuals might be lurking nearby, anticipating unsuspecting folks to arrive with cash in hand...

I can relate to that! When I inquired how she obtained my information, she mentioned 'the parcel'. I pointed out that a parcel wouldn't typically carry my phone number. She abruptly ended the call. Interestingly, she had the right name, although I had changed it a couple of years back.

Someone rang my mobile from this number saying they were from a royal mail depot in south london, saying they had a parcel for me and could help me collect it. The voice was of an indian woman, sounding like she was in customer support. I got suspicious when she couldn’t answer simple questions i asked nicely, and she cut off the call pretty quickly, under a minute i’d say. Checking this site confirmed my doubts about the call.

I got a call from ‭020 8634 7617‬ and a woman with an accent addressed me by my maiden name, even though I've been hitched for almost two years now. She claimed she had a package for me that was lacking postage and wanted to know if I was interested in finding out how to claim it. Honestly, it felt a bit dodgy, so I replied with 'not really.' She went on to say something about how Royal Mail used to leave cards at our doors for packages with unpaid postage, but apparently they’ve stopped doing that. I told her I wasn't comfortable sharing any personal details over the phone, and that’s when she insisted on needing my email address to provide information on how to settle the payment. At that point, I decided to hang up.

I had a ring earlier today from someone claiming to be from Royal Mail, saying there was a parcel for me. Interestingly, I’d just had a dodgy email this week about a parcel that supposedly required a payment. So, naturally, I was a bit wary and started asking her a few questions. She couldn’t provide my postcode or clarify why my phone number was attached to this mysterious parcel. I mentioned that I’d check with head office after doing some digging. Thank goodness I took a moment to look up the number online!

It's quite clear this call is dodgy. I can't help but ponder why the authorities haven't managed to trace them, especially considering it's a London number.

I recently received a phone call from this number purporting to be from Royal Mail, asserting that I had a parcel awaiting collection due to insufficient postage. I remarked that I typically get a text or an email notification from them in such instances. Subsequently, she sent me an email with a link requesting £1.55 for the postage, but I told her I'd prefer to settle that later, as the whole thing sounded rather suspect.

I received a call from someone asking for my banking information to supposedly sort out an undelivered package. The person spoke in a gentle tone and had a noticeable foreign accent.

Received a rather suspicious call today from the number 020 8634 7617 at 13:08. Right from the outset, I could spot multiple warning signs, being an ex-police officer and all - I’ve encountered this sort of thing far too often. Just like numerous others I've come across, the woman on the line sported a thick foreign accent, unmistakably not from Royal Mail. To top it off, there was a noticeable delay of several seconds before the call connected after I picked up. I decided to play along, fully aware it was a scam, just to see how much she would reveal. After claiming that Royal Mail was holding onto a parcel for me and requesting a modest fee for its release, it got interesting. When she asked if I wanted to go ahead and demanded my bank details, I couldn’t help but respond, “Do you honestly think I'm that naïve? I’d rather not waste my time on phoney calls.” At that point, she promptly disconnected. And let’s face it, why on earth would Royal Mail be ringing me on a bank holiday Monday? It’s outrageous how rampant these scams have become. I've made sure to report it to Royal Mail. Everyone, please remain on high alert!

I received a call from someone claiming to be with Royal Mail, saying there was a parcel of mine awaiting collection. They asked if I wished to receive guidance on how to retrieve it. I replied that I wasn't anticipating any delivery, so I declined. At that point, they abruptly ended the call.

I’ve had an unusual phone call from a woman with a thick accent claiming to be from Royal Mail, insisting that a parcel of mine is awaiting collection. She mentioned my name but when I inquired about the sender, she became vague and said they needed more information from me. I informed her that I wasn’t anticipating any deliveries and it seemed she had mixed up the details. It was evident to me this was a dodgy ploy. Whatever you do, don’t divulge any personal information!

I received a call from a woman with a foreign accent claiming that I had a package on its way from Royal Mail. She insisted that I needed to provide my bank information in order for them to hand it over. Thankfully, I’m not gullible enough to fall for that old trick, and just to clarify, I don’t have any parcels in transit. I've since blocked the number to avoid any future nonsense.

I received a rather bizarre call from a woman with a distinct accent, requesting my email address so I could settle a payment for a Royal Mail parcel. First off, the collection depot she mentioned wasn’t one I recognised as my local one. To add to the absurdity, I never got a red card or anything dropped through my letterbox! It felt like I was being cornered into action, with her suggesting the parcel would be disposed of if I didn’t comply. Just a word of caution - steer clear of sharing any of your information with these sorts of callers!

I received a call from someone who seemed to know my name, stating they were from Royal Mail and had a parcel awaiting collection. When I mentioned I’d pick it up from my nearest depot, they abruptly ended the call. Please, exercise caution with these sorts of scammers; even if they possess some of your personal info, it’s best not to disclose anything to them. Just a heads up, Royal Mail never makes calls demanding customs fees-they simply pop a red card through your letterbox if there’s a parcel to collect.

Just like the previous poster mentioned about receiving a call from someone claiming to be from Royal Mail, I had a similar experience. When I questioned the necessity of a £1.55 charge, I requested to be put through to a supervisor. To my surprise, the line went dead instead!

I was notified about a customs fee for a Royal Mail parcel that was registered in my name. They insisted on collecting the payment over the phone. I wasn't comfortable with that and insisted they send me a proper invoice via email first. Instead, I received a suspicious letter that mimicked Royal Mail, urging me to click a link. The email, however, came from a dodgy address that wasn’t affiliated with Royal Mail at all. DO watch out for such scams!

I had a rather similar experience to those shared by others on this site. A woman with a heavy accent rang me, claiming to be Melissa from Royal Mail. This company keeps ringing me up every day, leaving voicemails, but they use loads of different mobile numbers so I can't block them. I've never even shown the slightest bit of interest in what they offer, so I don’t see why they keep calling. Honestly, their approach feels more like harassment than genuine sales, and I’ve already reported them for it.
