Got a text from this number saying it was O2 telling me I missed a couple of calls and I had some free call alert or something. The message told me to dial 901, hit *, then press 5 twice to turn it off. I wasn’t about to follow those instructions - seems like a proper scam to me!

Got a call on my mobile from someone claiming to be Michael with O2, but there was loads of noise in the background. He started by asking how I was going, but as soon as I asked the same, the line just dropped. The number showed up as Spam when I checked it.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from O2, saying there was a deal to get 40% off my bills until my contract finishes. After that, I received loads of texts warning about fraud and giving all these odd directions. Then suddenly they hung up. They tried calling me back about six times but I just didn’t pick up.

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2, saying they could knock 40% off my bill. They had my phone number but when they tried to read out my email address, it was a bit off. Then they asked me to double check and confirm it. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

My phone rang, no voicemail left though, got tagged as spam.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent saying he was from O2, offering a 40% discount for loyal customers. I’m not even an O2 customer! Total scam, watch out.

No reply when I answered. The number appeared to be from London, but I don’t have any contacts there or was waiting for a call. They didn’t leave any voicemail. So, I’ve just blocked the number.

I got a voicemail with just a simple "hello" from this number, nothing else. After seeing what others have said about it, I've gone ahead and blocked it now.

Got a dodgy call claiming to be from O2, sounded like the person was speaking with an Indian accent. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be from O2, insisting that they had a fantastic offer for me-a 40% reduction on my current bill. It all screamed scam to me!

When I answered the call, there was utter silence on the other end.

Pretty sure this was a spam call, they were after a 6 digit code off my phone. I had a bit of fun with it though, pretending I didn’t understand and managed to keep them talking for over 20 minutes.

A mate of mine just got a call from someone claiming to be O2, saying they could give a 40% discount from now on. When my mate asked if they were the account owner, the caller got a bit dodgy and couldn’t say who they had actually rung. The strong Indian accent gave it away - definitely one of those dodgy call centre scams from somewhere like New Delhi. They kept trying to talk over him, but once he threw some colourful language their way and some sharp English, they quickly hung up. Classic scammer behaviour really.

Got a text claiming it was from O2 with a discount offer, but it was a total con. They sent messages asking for a code supposedly for the discount, but it was just a trick to get stuff from my phone. Beware of these fake deals!

On 21st Jan 2023 around 2:31 pm, I got a call but couldn’t answer. Later, I found a weird voicemail from them with some kind of South Asian accent, but it was really hard to understand and sounded like it came straight out of a busy call centre or something.

If you want to report scam calls, texts, emails or other fraud attempts, there’s a system set up by the police called the NFIB that's made to be straightforward for everyone to use. I only found out about it after raising the issue of all the scam calls I was getting with my MP. It seems scammers would prefer this info stayed quiet. If you don’t officially report these scams, it’s unlikely anything will be done to stop them. You can report to 7726, your phone company, Ofcom, or the impersonated businesses but sometimes that info doesn’t reach the police to launch any criminal probes.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with O2, but since I’m not an O2 customer, I just ended the call. They tried ringing me the following day too, so I went ahead and blocked the number.
