These so-called 'accident' calls are proper tricky scams, but make no mistake, they're out to rob you. You really should report every one of them to the cops. Just google 'action fraud', find the 'police.uk' website, then hit the 'reporting' section to flag the phishing attempt. Loads of scam calls, texts, and emails flood the UK daily, and the reason they keep happening is because hardly any of them get reported to the police.

0208 3645624 rang me on 17/1/20 claiming to be local, but I live in Scotland. They said it was about compensation for a car accident, which I’ve never been involved in. I told them to take my number off their list as it’s not right they have it, and then I ended the call. I’ll be blocking this number from now on. I've always been cautious with sharing my mobile number online, so this is worrying - it’s the first time I’ve had this sort of call on this number, so my details must’ve ended up somewhere they shouldn’t be.

Got a call from some lass with a strong Scouse accent, said she was from "First Response" asking if I reported any car damage. When I asked her what damage she was talking about, she just repeated if I reported it. Then I asked if this was just some cold call or marketing ploy, and she just ended the call straight away.

This number phoned me twice today, I didn’t know who it was the first time so I just ignored it, but then I checked the number here and when it called again I was ready. I picked up and a woman with a Scouse accent started asking about an accident I’d supposedly been in. I did have one but that was years ago, and I’d already sorted my insurance claim. I told her “hang on a sec, I’ll find some paperwork” and then I put on some really loud rock music and blasted it down the phone. They didn’t hang up straight away but eventually they did. Hope their ears rang after that!

Someone with a Scouse accent called herself Tracy and said she was from 'First Response' talking about supposed damage to my car. She wanted my full name even though she was ringing my private number. When I told her "I haven’t the foggiest what you mean," she asked "didn’t you make an accident report?" I said "no," and she just ended the call. I’d say be careful, as she knew my full name and was ringing my personal number. Definitely seems dodgy.

Haha, just got a call from someone with a Scouse accent about my recent car insurance claim, which I’ve only made once in 24 years. I asked, why are you ringing me? You really shouldn’t be ringing, should’ve emailed or sent a letter. Then he went ahead and gave my home address, which is pretty easy to find anyway. I’m honestly shocked that they’d call about something as sensitive as an insurance claim - it leaves you open to all sorts of dodgy stuff like scams. Really bad way to handle it. I just hung up and blocked the number!

02085924317 rang me on 30.04.19 around midday. A woman with a Liverpudlian accent asked for me and mentioned something about a car accident claim. When I asked when the accident took place, she said sometime between October 2016 and now! I pointed out that was quite a broad range and wondered if she had a more exact date. Once I told her my car is a motability vehicle, she just ended the call. I've blocked the number since then.

I didn’t share anything and kept asking what info he had. Then he called me weird and said he had everything anyway, asking why I was acting so odd and awkward! Received a call last week from a chap with a distinct Liverpool accent inquiring about any car accidents I've had in the past two years. When the caller said they’d been told I was in an accident, I told them my lawyer was already handling a big claim against their firm over the damaging stuff she just said. I also mentioned that spreading the rumour probably doubled my compensation by now, and I’d recorded the call as proof. I cheekily thanked her for making me better off and asked if she could ring me again since I’d want to make another claim for damages - I was planning to take my wife on a long world cruise. She got all jealous and ended the call. Guess you meet all sorts, lol.

She had the audacity to use my first name and started prattling on about a well-known accident that had supposedly been reported to the insurance company. 4th April 2019: a woman with a northern accent, maybe from Liverpool or Newcastle. She asked for me by name. When I confirmed, she said something like "this is Direct Response" and mentioned a "claim" from a few days or weeks ago. I told her I hadn’t made any claim, and then she just hung up. I tried calling back but just got a busy tone. I’d suggest anyone who’s had a call like this to ring Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 and report it. It could also help to reach out to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Got a call from this guy on Friday 5th April 2019. He asked if I was Sonia, so I asked who it was. He said David from AMC and started chatting with me, saying, "Hello Sonia." I cut him off and said, "I'm not Sonia, who the heck is this?" Then he goes, "If you're not Sonia, why you answering her phone, you idiot," and snapped the phone shut. What a nice bloke!

Got a call from a woman with a strong Liverpool accent who already knew my name and asked about a recent crash. I told her I had no idea what she was on about since I don’t drive, then she just hung up. Blocked straight away.

Got a call from a London number with a Scouse accent. They asked for me by name but cut the call the moment I replied. After seeing what others have said, I’ve decided to block that number now.

Got a call asking about a car crash I had a couple years back. The person said I had a claim for a minor injury and could get up to £1500 if I said I got a stiff neck from it. I told them I didn'y have one. They kept pushing. They called me again later, claiming my car was listed at a different place. When I asked what address they had, they just ended the call. I’ve reported the number to the insurance fraud team. They said someone called them today pretending to be me but couldn't pass the security questions and ended the call.

Someone called about a car crash where apparently I was the driver - funny thing is, I don’t even have a driving licence!! Instant block from me!!

They called up asking if I’d been in an accident. I told them yeah, I’d hit the Easter Bunny and it traumatised me bad. He then just blurted out "you're wasting my bloody time, mate." Honestly, funniest call I’ve had this week. Don’t bother giving them real info, it’s pointless.

Got a call from woman with a Scouse accent, she asked for me by name and was chatting about some damage to my car that supposedly got reported (which never did). When I questioned her about where she got that info, she just ended the call.

Absolute chancers. They’re either tryna nick your personal info to steal your identity or playing some dodgy insurance scam. Best to block and steer clear. If they ring from another number, don’t share any info with them, no matter what!

Got a call on my phone but didn’t pick up. The number showed as London, which is odd cos loads of the folks here sound like they’re from Liverpool in the reviews. Strange one!
