Today I received a phone call from a lady with an overseas accent claiming to be from a computer support service. She wanted to know if I was the primary person using the computer. When I asked why she was calling and interrupting me, she immediately ended the call. Looks like one of those typical scams, and unfortunately, some folks might get tricked by it.

Don't trust Tech Helpline, it's a total rip off. They mess around with your computer programs or try to get into your system so you end up having to ring them again for "support." Then they hit you with some kind of subscription, whether it's weekly, monthly or even yearly. I can't stand that they are allowed to do this, loads of people get caught out by it and it's just awful.

Someone keeps ringing me up saying there's a problem with my computer. I've told them to sod off, but this bloke's called me four times this evening already.

Today I got a call from this number, with a supposed company saying there's an issue with my computer. They wanted me to log into my system so they could guide me through fixing it, but I don’t actually have any problems with my PC. It feels just like that scam that's been going around again since last year, where if you follow their steps, they end up getting control of your machine. I’m not daft enough to fall for it, but I worry loads of people have been tricked by this. If only I could’ve caught the name of the company they claimed to be from.

Rang us around half an hour ago. We decided to ignore the call, as we do with all numbers we don't recognise. It's quite unsettling, though, as some unfortunate people might end up falling for the schemes these crooks are peddling.
