BT has gone ahead and blocked this number for all users through their free Call Protect service, so they’re onto it being a dodgy one. Folks reckon it’s Benefits UK behind the calls, and honestly, they’re a nightmare to deal with. Whatever you do, don’t give them any details - not even a simple “yes” or “no.” Just tell them to shove off and be as blunt as you want. Also, I noticed that in the recent calls, Benefits UK seem to be using fake numbers starting with "02085," so if you spot any number like that pop up, it’s probably safe to just ignore it.

Got a call from someone named Richard who said he was from "the Telephone Office". When I asked him which company he was with, he just wanted to know the brand of my washing machine. I told him that gathering info like that is against the law here in the UK now. He hung up straight away.

The caller had a strong asian accent and somehow had my name and address. She asked if I was working for someone, self employed, or retired, then just ended the call. This number usually rings me about 9 in the morning but today it was closer to 11:15am.

When I asked who it was, he said his name was Mark and that he was ringing from "Benefits UK". I've heard that name pop up loads of times before. He started asking how old I was. I told him straight up that gathering info like that is against UK law now. He hung up right away.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone with a distinct foreign accent who rambled on, expressing a desire to have a chat with me. I inquired about who he was representing, but his response was completely garbled, making it utterly incomprehensible. At that point, I decided to end the conversation abruptly. A few hours later, I got another call from the very same number, but I didn’t hesitate to hang up immediately! What a delightful day, indeed! 😄
