DC Collins from Hammersmith Fraud Squad is still about 4 years later apparently :D I assumed it was a scam and was being quite uncooperative which he didn't appreciate and then he lost composure and hung up

Got a call from a 'withheld' number where the person said they were a detective from Hammersmith Police fraud unit. They told me there was some kind of fraud going on at a local bank and that someone had gotten replacement cards using my details. They gave me this number to call back, but it was clearly just a scam trying to trick me.

I got a call from someone saying they were DC Roberts at Action Fraud in Hammersmith. They told me there was a guy in custody using stolen bank cards and the whole thing involved £27k. They said they had to end the call and then ring the police myself. Seemed a bit off to me.

On the 19th of August, 2022, I received a rather unnerving call from this number. A chap who identified himself as Officer Robert-thoroughly claiming his warrant number was 6510 from Hammersmith Police Station-asserted that someone had been apprehended with my bank card in their possession. He then instructed me to hang up and ring 999, insisting that I relay his details for verification. To say the least, this raised all sorts of red flags for me, prompting me to refrain from any further engagement.

Got a call from someone claiming to be a DCI Collins at the Hammersmith police station, talking about my debit card being used. It was all fake - not a real officer. Watch out for this scam, just hang up and don’t keep talking to them.

Heads up everyone, got a call from someone claiming to be DC Brown from Hammersmith - total con artist. As soon as I said I don’t chat to strangers and that I’d ring back, he just ended the call. Watch out for this one!

Caution is advised-there's a trickster about.

I received a call from someone posing as DC Brown from Hammersmith Police Station.

When I expressed my reluctance to continue the conversation and mentioned I'd return the call, they abruptly ended the call.

Upon dialling back, I found the number to be out of service.

Please stay vigilant against this fraudster, who is employing caller ID spoofing to falsely represent Hammersmith Police in a bid to carry out deceitful actions.

Like others here, this person said he was DCI Collins from the Hammersmith Police. His voice was pretty young when he asked if I knew why he was calling. It immediately seemed dodgy so I ended the call straight away and checked online. Honestly, having a site like this is a real lifesaver!

Just got a call from 0208563121 and some bloke claimed to be a Met police officer. He told us they’d caught people using our bank info. We didn’t give any details and said we’d check with our bank first before speaking to him again, then he hung up straight away. Definitely felt dodgy to me.

I got a call from someone claiming to be PC Andrews. He said there was some dodgy stuff going on at my bank in Richmond and asked me to check his identity by calling the Hammersmith police station on the number he gave me. Apparently, he said someone at the bank was acting weird and that Richmond Barclays was being watched or something.

Received a call on the 12th of August at around 12:54 in the afternoon. The chap on the line claimed to be from Hammersmith Police Station, insisting that my Visa debit card had been compromised. When I pointed out that I actually use a Mastercard debit card, he looked quite baffled and asserted that Mastercard only offered credit cards. His lack of knowledge was quite telling!

Somebody called me saying they were DC Andrews from Hammersmith police, gave my name, phone, and address, and said there was an issue with my credit card. Pretty obvious scam to me - don’t ring back or follow anything they say, just end the call straight away.

I recently had a rather concerning encounter with someone claiming to be DC Andrews, warrant number 13229, from the Hammersmith Police Station, who used the phone number 0208 563 1212. They suggested they were attempting to locate a Visa debit card, but their continued attempts felt very suspicious. They even requested a verification code, which raised a red flag for me. It struck me as a potential effort to exploit elderly individuals, and it left me feeling quite unsettled. Consequently, I have escalated the matter to Action Fraud and received a crime reference number for my report.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Hammersmith police but I'm sure it was a bank scam. They said they were investigating big fraud at my bank, but it felt really dodgy. Don’t trust those calls, it’s just a trick to get your info.

He gave a different DC name each time, it all seemed legit until I started asking him some questions. Then out of nowhere, he just hung up. I ended up ringing the local cops to warn them about what looked like a scam.

Had almost the same thing happen to me - some bloke claiming to be a cop, saying there was fraud on my bank card. He even let me dial 999 while on the line just to 'verify' himself. If you get this kind of call or anything like it, just hang up right away.

Got a call today from someone saying they're DC Edwards, claimed to be calling from Hammersmith Police Station with number 1863. Both me and my missus had our bank cards cloned, apparently this scam’s hitting the Winchester area. They mentioned two suspects, Sarah and Michael, got arrested. The bloke said he’d hang up so I could ring 999 to verify and then call him back. I ended up informing the Police who confirmed it’s a scam. Afterwards, I also reported it on actionfraud.police.uk. They sound convincing, so watch out!

Got a call from someone saying they were "DC Miles" from Hammersmith police, giving me some dodgy warrant number. They sounded pretty convincing and even knew my name and address, but the whole thing felt off. They told me to check them out by calling 999, but I've no doubt it was a scam trying to pin bank card fraud on me. Definitely dodgy!

I can't believe how gullible I've been. I seriously withdrew £3,500 thinking it was all above board! This person, claiming to be from the fraud squad, contacted me from 07947905883, using the name D C EDAWARD. What a fool I feel like now!

Today 29th July at around 9:30am I got a call from this number claiming to be from DC Edmonds, acting out a story I’ve heard before. I quickly got my doubts and ended the call before it went any further. After that I contacted my bank straight away to freeze my cards. This kind of scam seems pretty complex and could cause a lot of trouble. Stay cautious out there, folks.

Had a very similar experience with someone claiming to be DC Edwards, warrant number 1929. The caller ID was blocked, so no number shown. He spun a tale about arresting two people, even gave their first names. Then he asked me to recite the bank's phone number from my card - which I refused, thinking if he was legit he’d already know it. He said the bank would call me soon after, and right on cue, another call came through with the number hidden. I just ignored that one.

I got a call from someone saying he was DC Edmonds 1922, from the Hammersmith police station. He told me there was fraud on my credit card and asked me to ring 999 straight away, from the same line, to confirm he was legit. It sounded dodgy so I just ended the call.

So, the number was 0208 563 1212, and they said they were from Hammersmith Police Station, something about DC Edmonds from 1942. Honestly, they sounded about as convincing as my six-year-old granddaughter pretending to be a cop. Definitely not buying it.

Got a call from a withheld number claiming to be D.C. Andrews from Hammersmith police. They told me there’d been some fraud at the bank, with two people caught and even a member of the bank staff involved. Thing is, I know the Hammersmith police station is shut right now for renovations. So, I phoned 999 to ask about this D.C. Andrews, and there’s no such officer there. Definitely sounds like a scam to me. Don’t hand over your bank info to these sorts of callers!

I received a call from a person purporting to be DC Edwards, supposedly affiliated with the national fraud squad. They claimed to be looking into a case of bank fraud and instructed me to withdraw £4,200 in cash from my bank, stating they would come by to collect it later for a fingerprint analysis. Initially, it all seemed very credible, but I quickly realised how precarious the situation was. Please, everyone, be cautious and spread the word about such scams!

Total con! They claim to be the police on a mission to catch dodgy bank staff. Super persuasive, I must say!

Got a call from a private number so I picked up. Turns out it’s a really dodgy scam where people pretending to be police from some ‘fraud’ department tell you your bank card’s been copied and try to trick you into handing over your cash. Proper dangerous stuff!
