I got a call from a woman who spoke quite properly, no obvious accent, sounded like she had a good education, but turned out to be a total cheat. She said she was from Amazon and that there’d been an attempt to take £735 out of “an account linked to your identity.” Funny, considering Amazon never seems to spot all the dodgy reviews on products they sell. Of course, they wanted me to press 1 to get in touch with their fraud team. Yeah, like I was gonna fall for that. The creepy tune played on until they suddenly cut off the call.
