Phone number ☎️ 02083543789 👆 is reported as a persistent scam where callers claiming to be from HMRC pressurise victims about old tax debts dating back years. The scammers use multiple UK numbers, including 033, 01522 and 020 codes, often changing during the call, which causes confusion. The caller threatens police visits and imprisonment unless the victim agrees to visit a tax office. Despite requests, they refuse to send official emails or provide clear contact details. Some victims report automated messages prompting to press '1' before speaking to an operator. Calls may last around 10 minutes and the scammers seem determined to get personal details by pretending to verify identity with employee and case numbers. Overall, the experience is stressful and tricky to report due to shifting phone numbers.
Reports on phone number 02083543789
5 yearsToday, 24/03/21, I kept getting calls from different numbers between 3 and 3:30pm. The first call was from a recorded voice telling me to press 1 because there was some sort of case open with HMRC. It said to press 1 to speak to an operator, so I did. I ended up chatting with a bloke for about ten minutes, but my landline isn’t the best and the line cut out. I quickly tried to check the caller ID using 1471, but only managed to catch part of the number showing an 033 code before I had to hang up - someone was at the door with a delivery, and I couldn’t write the number down in time.HMRC5 yearsPart 4: I also asked him to send me an email with an HMRC header to prove who he was, but he wouldn’t agree. I ended the call while he was warning me that the police would be at my door in 30 minutes. The landline was really scratchy, so he rang me a few more times after that. Unfortunately, I didn’t note down the complete 033 number to report it properly, but the voice prompting me to press 1 was definitely from an 033 number. After I got cut off, the caller ID changed to 01522 805899, and the last call I received was from 020 8354 3789, right after the second disconnection.HMRCSubmit Your Own Report (020 8354 3789)
