I recently received a call from this number, claiming to be from Mastercard. The caller seemed to know my name, which set off alarm bells, so we simply hung up. I've since contacted Mastercard directly to report the incident!

On the day when these individuals called us, we weren't quite on our game and ended up being taken in by their trickery. It set us back £49.99, and whenever we tried to ring them, all we got was a pre-recorded message promising that someone would return our call. We've since lodged a complaint with our local trading standards office to make sure they’re aware of this.

A gentleman rang claiming to be from Mastercard, saying that we were eligible for a debit card. We mentioned that the connection wasn’t very good and he said he’d ring back. However, it’s been ages and we’re still waiting. Seems like it’s a bit dodgy to me.

I've had incessant calls from this company-it's quite maddening! You answer, only for them to hang up straight away. It's especially frustrating when you've got children around. Is there any chance someone could get them blocked?

We received quite an odd call from this number. It was a pre-recorded message informing us that we could get in touch later if we wished, otherwise, they might ring us again at a more convenient time. Quite strange, really!

I've received several calls from this number, yet we always choose not to pick up if we don't know who's on the other end.

We recently received a call from this number, claiming to be associated with MasterCard. The caller seemed to know our name, which raised a flag for us. We decided it was best to hang up rather than engage. Subsequently, we contacted MasterCard directly to verify the situation!

This particular chapter was rather noticeable, as it seemed to recognise our name quite well. Upon making our purchase, we were prompted to use our credit card. We asked Hime to make her own judgement on the matter, to which she responded that she was affiliated with the firm providing the offer in collaboration with MasterCard. Is it necessary for us to settle in cash? After all, we opted for a debit card. With utmost politeness, we chose to disengage from the discussion.

Received a call at home on the 20th of May, 2009, about a ten-day trial for an educational package for children at the end of which they wanted £59.99. They claimed it included six magazines along with monthly activity packs for the little ones. When I expressed my disinterest in continuing with the pack, they instructed me to call them. However, they mentioned that I could keep the entire package regardless. As of today, the 1st of June, 2009, we’re still awaiting the delivery of the promised package.

A bloke gave me a bell, and it was evident he knew my name. He prattled on about needing to chat regarding when we last used our credit card whilst shopping. Naturally, we asked him to verify who he was. He claimed he was representing a company that was promoting some sort of Mastercard deal. Then he probed whether we’d paid in cash or if we opted for a debit card. We politely told him we weren’t interested in continuing the conversation.

I received a rather peculiar call, and on the other end was an agitated individual who rambled on in quite an irritating manner. Is there any way to prevent these jokers from pestering us with their calls?

We've received a couple of these calls from overseas, and I’m wondering if we can recoup the phone costs? Honestly, this sort of thing should be made illegal since it's just draining people’s wallets without their consent!

We own the exact same ring, so we reckon this might be a scam.

I just received a rather peculiar silent call. It didn’t have that robotic feel-more as if someone was lingering on the line, perhaps hoping we’d strike up a conversation before hanging up. We simply said “hello” once, paused for a few moments, and then tried it again with another “hello.” We always refrain from revealing our names in situations like this. I called 1471 afterwards, which revealed the number, and a quick search led me to this discussion.
