I found this number listed on the official NatWest Customer Tax Operations page, so it appears to be genuine. I rang NatWest's fraud team to double-check and they confirmed it's a valid number. Got a letter supposedly from Natwest sent to my mum’s place here in NZ saying I needed to provide personal info because I’m now a tax resident here. The letter looked pretty professional but when I called the number, my phone said it was an 'air conditioning' service. I googled the number and quickly figured out it was a scam. Also, the paper wasn’t that crisp white like official Natwest stationery. What really worries me is how they got my mum’s NZ address - I only updated it a couple of weeks ago!

This number came up on some letters I got from my bank about my tax residency status. Just got a letter that claims to be from NatWest asking me to provide all my details because they need to "confirm my tax residency status" within 30 days or they’ll take action and inform my local tax office. The letter and forms look like photocopies, but they’ve included a 2nd class envelope addressed to Customer Tax Operations, PO Box 278, WYMONDHAM, NR18 8EQ. Feels dodgy to me, so I’m going to get in touch with NatWest directly. I don’t earn enough to pay tax here in the UK, where I’ve lived my whole life, my income’s just the state pension.

So, my dad over in Portugal got a letter asking for his info too. He’s got an account with NatWest but never mentioned the letter to me. Instead, he got someone at a local bank to confirm his details with a stamp and mailed it back. Then, a few days later, he got another letter and told me about it. I did some digging and found this site. Honestly, it’s all a big scam. I’m really worried about what they might do with the info he already gave them. It’s proper low of these fraudsters to do stuff like this.

My Mum and Dad rang from France to ask if this was some kind of scam - both got letters today, supposedly from NatWest, telling them to complete forms about their tax residency (said they had 10 days to send them back or NatWest would report them to the tax office or whatever). VERY WORRIED: Got a letter a few days ago claiming to be from Natwest about tax residency, showed this number 02082429447 and a P.O. box in Wynmondham. Back in August 2017, they hadn't stopped yet! Now folks in Ireland who are British are receiving identical letters. I rang the number and was told the call centre’s based in Manchester. Didn’t hand over any details though. Luckily, I kept all the paperwork. What gave it away was their terrible English - and trust me, I should know as I got a Distinction in English Language at GCSE.

On 8th August 2017, I got a letter that looked like it came from NatWest, complete with their logo - but it definitely wasn’t genuine! The address on it was just a PO Box, not a real location. When I checked the postcode NR18 8EQ in Wymondham, Norfolk, the phone number given was a London one (02082429447), which felt suspicious. The letter claimed I had an account in Jersey and asked me to fill in some tax forms, including details like my date of birth and a copy of my passport. Obviously, I didn’t send anything back. I went to my local NatWest branch to report it, but they seemed pretty indifferent, just saying the fraud team would handle it. I tried to stress how dangerous this could be for other people who might fall for it. Got a call from a woman who sounded quite polite and clear, said it was about my bank and they needed my tax information. I kept my guard up and wouldn’t share anything.
