5 yearsLast Thursday, 18th November 2021, I got a phone call from a withheld number. The guy on the line said his name was Jack and he worked as a Sales Exec for a company called “P Y G”. He tried to get me to renew my washing machine cover, which was £60 a year for a three-year period. He wanted me to give him my debit card details right then and there, because apparently my old cover was ending that very day. He told me no paperwork would have arrived beforehand, claiming it was due to COVID, but said they’d post it to me after I paid. At one point he had to leave the phone to fetch his own phone number, which he said was 02081911309. I didn’t trust it, so I rang that number myself and discovered it was for Home Protect Direct.
