I received a call claiming to be from Vodafone, suggesting I could upgrade my phone. Oddly, they didn’t bother to verify if I was even one of their customers-no request for my name or any personal details. They merely mentioned I could switch to a Samsung and then pressed me on whether I was interested. Given that I had my phone upgrade just five months prior, it seemed fishy, especially since the genuine Vodafone tends to be quite strict about ensuring you fulfil most of your contract before granting an upgrade.

Right, let me tell you what happened. I received a couple of calls from this number based in London. I picked up the phone, but the person on the other end just cut the line both times without uttering a word. When I tried to return the call, it didn’t ring through - the number was unfamiliar to me. Quite odd, really!
