Had two blokes ring me up saying they was from Vodaphone, which is actually who I use for my mobile, and they wanted my email because apparently my sim was about to get switched off. They said they were from some promo team so couldn’t find my info on their system, and they wouldn’t give me any kind of reference number to check when I called Vodaphone later. Seemed really dodgy to me.

Don't bother ringing this number again, they claim to be from HMRC. They say you’ve got unpaid taxes and accuse you of fraud. They’re really pushy about getting your National Insurance number - don’t hand it over. They even threatened me with jail time and said I'd be chased for fraud. When I asked where they were based, they said London. I questioned why they didn’t send a letter, and asked them to confirm in writing. Then I said I was hanging up and that I’d contact my local tax office. That’s when they just cut me off.

I received a call with an identical robotic voice claiming to be Heather Grayson from HMRC, stating that a claim has been filed against me and instructing me to return the call. After verifying the number, I'm relieved that I didn't engage. I've now blocked it.

It’s obvious these chaps are up to no good-got the identical spiel from them yesterday when they rang me from 020 81873512. I've had enough, so I've put a block on that number. Their automated voice was pretending to be from the tax office, but it’s nothing more than a load of nonsense. They really ought to be dealt with; it’s nothing short of harassment, even for those of us who aren’t duped by their ridiculous attempts.

I received a call from someone claiming to be 'George Miller' from HMRC about an investigation they were supposedly initiating regarding me. I've taken the step of reporting this as a phishing attempt to HMRC. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I highly recommend you do the same!

Received a pre-recorded message from a woman's voice claiming to be from HMRC. It was quite clear that it was a scam, though I suppose some might fall for it; HMRC typically doesn’t communicate in this manner. Best to block this number and report it to HMRC's phishing email at [email protected].
