I picked up the phone, thinking it might be the hospital returning my call. Instead, I was met with a robotic male voice blaring out some odd information regarding something that seemed to be on hold. I couldn't quite make sense of it all. Then it prompted me to press 1 if I wished to speak to customer support or some sort of representative. I decided to hang up instead. Clearly, it was just a scam attempt.

I got a call from some bloke with a weird accent, definitely not English, and he started yelling at my kids right after I picked up. Claimed to be from Shell Energy Broadband, which I’d never come across before. I just ended the call and looked the number up online. Now it’s blocked.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Shell Energy Broadband, trying to get my broadband info to "check if they could give me a better price". I told them if they were legit, they’d already have my info and wouldn’t need to ask. The number showed up as spam on my phone, so I just blocked it straight away.

Just to clarify, there’s indeed a SHELL app available, but it's related to Shell Energy for keeping track of your home’s energy usage.

I didn’t entertain him for long and decided to ring up Virgin Media directly to flag this number. They confirmed it’s not from their end. It seems these callers are attempting to gain unauthorised access to your computer for nefarious purposes. PLEASE, steer clear of them and under no circumstances should you log onto your device.

I chose not to answer since the number wasn’t familiar to me. Interestingly, this missed call came right after one I had taken, which I was actually anticipating. I decided to ring the number again, and it turns out it’s SHELL (PETROLEUM) ENERGY BROADBAND! Can you believe they were trying to entice me with a supposedly swifter broadband deal compared to my current Virgin setup?! I flat out told him there was no chance of that happening, especially from a company that’s wreaking havoc on the environment with their fossil fuels! He ended the call rather abruptly. What a right muppet! 😂😂😂
