Absolute con artists over at New Day, once again they declined my payment and sent it back to my bank just so they can hit me with crazy fees and interest. In my opinion, it’s best to avoid any card linked to New Day. They’re now looking into my complaint from the last time this occurred, and it’s exactly the same problem happening again. Total rogues. I’ve cancelled my card and have no intention of dealing with them any further.

Been getting loads of silent calls recently, never a message left. Just realised it’s probably because I’ve got a Debenhams card through New Day. But what’s annoying is I’ve had alerts saying my payment was late, and they’ve added fees and interest, about £18.16 on a £32.40 spend! I actually paid off the card 3 days ahead of the deadline. Feels like a bit of a scam to me. I’m gonna ring them up later to sort it out. Might just cancel the card as well.

Totally with what others are saying here. I set up a Debenhams account to grab a 10% off deal for a pricey buy back in July. Paid off what I owed, didn’t get any more statements, then out of the blue I get a call saying I owe £12 because of missing a £10 payment last month. Sorted it all this morning and binned the card. Not using them again and honestly, I’d advise everyone to stay well away from this shady outfit.

Looks like they skip the first warning and just hit you with a £12 fee straight away. Paid it off and chucked the card in the bin. Honestly, steer clear of Debenhams card deals. They’re a bit dodgy.

NEWDAY for EVANS. My direct debit was set for a certain day that matched my payday. But now my pay comes every two weeks and doesn’t always line up with the direct debit, so my bank refuses the payment as there isn’t enough money. I get charged by the bank, fees from Evans and NEWDAY keep ringing me sometimes 10 times a day. Recently I got a text telling me to visit [#]assist.newdaycards[###] but I can’t get on the website! I can’t find any way to pay Evans online, it only lets me order stuff. Being disabled at the moment, it’s really hard for me to sort all this out! :(

Newday Ltd claimed I hadn’t settled my last bill from Debenhams Store Card, but I never even got the statement and I always pay my invoices in full. They wanted my credit card details to make a payment but I refused. Then they said I’d be charged £3 to send a new bill.

When I picked up, some automated voice asked me to confirm my name and also asked for my date of birth, which I refused to give. I hung up straight away after that. I rang Laura Ashley myself and they said it wasn’t them at all. I’ve heard about scammers stealing order details from companies and then calling you to demand money. So honestly, don’t pick up or pay anything. Always check with the company you actually ordered from.
