Got a call from an Asian lady trying to sell me a new phone, claiming free calls and £500 cashback every few months. Could tell right away it was some cheesy scam call centre, with loads of nonsense babbling in the back.

They rang me but I didn’t pick up, straight to voicemail. No message was left but the call stayed connected and I could hear a lady chatting in some Asian language in the background. Sounds like a scam like others mentioned - definitely block and report this number.

Loads of people mentioned already - this number is dodgy, just another of those discount scams.

He claimed to be calling from O2, but I’ve never used them before. He then wanted to know my name and email address.

Never share your personal details with these scammers, they are just out to take advantage.

It seems like scammers never give up on targeting us here in the UK. Loads of people who aren't aware end up getting caught out, but the vast majority of the scamming attempts going around daily rarely get reported. Honestly, it’s almost like a no-risk crime for them. If you want to report something, there were clear instructions shared here on this thread about a week ago, a few messages down from this one.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming he could definitely slash my bill. He said he was calling from o2, but when I told him I wasn’t with o2 anymore, he quickly changed it to say he was with some kind of multi-network management firm. Really pushy bloke.

Got a call from some Indian bloke called Ben Choda, and honestly, it felt like one of those dodgy scams to me.

The phone kept ringing for about 10 rings but as I didn’t pick up straight away, the caller ended it before I got the chance to answer. Seems like they gave up when I didn’t pick up quick enough!

I got a call from an Indian bloke claiming I could bag a 40% discount on my O2 phone plan. Problem is, I’m not even an O2 customer. I told him I was busy and he offered to email me the details instead. I figured, why not, let’s see if he tries anything dodgy like fishing for my email, and sure enough, he did ask for it. I told him he should already have it since he supposedly worked for my provider, but he said it was hidden behind asterisks for privacy. That’s when I hung up. Pretty clear it was a scam or some phishing attempt.

Totally a scam, watch out!

Watch out, this scam is really sneaky. Don’t pick up if you get a call like this. If you accidentally do, make sure you get in touch with your phone company straight away and see what info they’ve got on you - mine had actually been switched without me knowing!

I got a call from an 02 number, told them I wasn’t interested and they just hung up. Definitely blocked that one.

Got two calls from this number today, really close together like 5 minutes apart. Same guy on both. First time he said something about 40% discount from 3 and asked about my contract - which I don’t even have, so I just hung up. Then he called again, saying the offer involved other providers like EE and repeated the 40% deal. I told him it sounded nice but I prefer sorting out stuff myself directly with my provider, not over the phone. He sounded annoyed and hung up on me. I’ve blocked the number now.

Got a call about a mobile contract with a 40% discount, sounded good at first but quickly turned into some kind of threat. Honestly, best not to pick up if you see that number pop up.

The bloke on the phone sounded Indian and I really struggled to catch what he was saying. He claimed he was calling from 3, trying to offer me a cheaper deal or something. I just told him I'll visit the store myself if I decide to get a new contract.

Got a call about some 3G deal, but the bloke was nigh on impossible to understand. When I told him I wasn’t interested and asked him politely to leave me alone, he started threatening my family! Absolutely shocking. Maybe this info is useful to someone else out there.
