When I answered, the call just cut off right away so I had no clue who it was. I kept the line open for a couple of minutes to be safe before hanging up. Then I dialled 1471 to see what number had called me back, and it showed 02081598987. I don’t know that number at all, and after reading some of the other comments, I’m thinking it might be some sort of scam from Asian scammers.

Got a call from a woman with an accent claiming she worked for a home care firm and wanted to talk about my appliance insurance. She actually knew my name, which made me suspicious straight away. Since I already have cover for my appliances, I said no thanks and asked her to post me any details instead, as I don’t deal with these things by phone. After that, she just hung up. Loads of people mention it’s some sort of appliance cover scam. some bloke called victor, who then decided his name was james halfway through our chat, rang me claiming to be from kitchen appliance repairs. he seemed to know loads about a convo i’d had with another firm the day before about how old my appliances were. when i called him out and asked if he was a scammer, he got really narked. i ended the call after he started cussing at me.
