On the 16th of July, 2020, I got a recorded message from this number claiming to be from HMRC. Usually, I would just cut the call, but this time I decided to hear the whole thing out. To sum it up, the message gives a name of an alleged officer and urges you to ring them back urgently. It’s undeniably a scam, so steer clear of calling as they will try to coax you into giving away money or sharing your bank information.

I chose not to pick up the phone, but my voicemail recorded part of a message. A synthetic female voice, purporting to be one Dennis Grey from HMRC, insisted that I call back without delay. Apparently, if they didn’t get a response from me or my solicitor, there would be dire repercussions. It really did come across as rather intimidating! Naturally, I refrained from returning the call and looked into the number instead, only to discover - as expected - that it was just another scam!
