Got a voicemail from some woman about HMRC, said I needed to ring back and speak to a bloke whose name I've totally blanked on. She warned that if neither me nor my lawyer got in touch, there'd be serious trouble. Sounds like a classic scam to me!!!

I got a call supposedly from HMRC, but it wasn’t one of those robo calls. They said I owed some back tax and gave me a name, a case number, and some sort of employee ID. Then they told me to stay silent until they finished talking - like some big dramatic announcement. They were trying to scare me, catching me off guard and all that. Thing is, real HMRC would know your tax ID, so ask them for it and see what they say. If they can’t give you the right info, they’re just scammers.

On the 16th of July 2020, I got a robo-call from this number claiming to be HMRC. Usually I just hang up right away but this time I actually heard what they said all the way through. They gave a fake officer’s name and urged me to ring back urgently. It’s a total con, so don’t bother calling them back or they’ll try to trick you into handing over cash or giving out your bank info.

Didn't pick up when it rang, but left a bit of a message on my voicemail. Some robotic lady saying she was Dennis Grey from HMRC, telling me to ring back straight away or else legal stuff would happen if me or my lawyer didn’t get in touch. Sounded proper menacing!
