Got a call on my mobile from a number I didn’t recognise. When I tried ringing back, there was a message telling me to wait for an agent, who spoke with an accent I couldn’t place. They never said who they were representing! I’m wondering if this number charges you somehow just for holding or waiting on the line? You mention that “02081574803 is a landline based in London (UK)”, but since the call came on my mobile, not a traditional landline, it makes me think this might be a VOIP call pretending to be from a landline number. Some bloke rang my mobile and knew my first name straight away. He was rambling about investing, but since I’ve gotten loads of these calls lately from different mobiles, I told him I wasn’t interested. That same number phoned me two more times but I just didn’t pick up. Now I’m getting another random call from a mobile. Is this some kind of scam?

A woman rang me the other day and outright threatened me when I dared to cut the call short. I’ve since blocked her number, yet I’m still inundated with all kinds of irrelevant calls from strange numbers. It’s getting quite tiresome!
