I ignored the call since the number was unfamiliar. They left a voicemail, and when I played it back, there was a robotic voice giving an 0800 number to ring and a website, but I didn’t quite catch the web address. Then out of nowhere, I got put through to someone in a call centre who just said "Hello" - felt pretty sketchy to me!!!

Got a call from a guy who said his name was James, but his accent was really thick Indian. He claimed he was from Microsoft Support and told me there was a virus on my PC. He wanted me to switch it on so he could help fix it. I told him I don’t even own a computer or a laptop, then he just hung up. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from some Asian guy named "Albert" who started off with a "ho ho ho," said he wasn't trying to sell me anything (yeah right, Albert, sure you’re just here for a laugh) and wanted to ask me three questions, promising he wouldn't ring me again afterwards. This number is just one of many controlled by Nexbridge Communications, which is located in Pakistan and the Middle East. They rent out these numbers to dodgy call centres involved in PPI claims, debt collection, surveys, and all sorts of scams. Best to not pick up - if it’s something important, they’ll leave a voicemail, then you can choose whether to call back or not.

I rang 01582763090 and asked for Jane to be put on their "Do Not Call" list. You do have to give them your number (although they likely already have it since they’re calling). I did it a bit earlier, might’ve been daft, but we’ll see if I get another call from them tomorrow. I’ll try to remember to update here whether they ring me again or not.

Just got a new landline, barely a week old, and this morning at 8am someone called claiming to be from Microsoft. I got proper annoyed since our number is ex directory (so BT must be leaking info). I asked for a manager, but they kept pushing even when I was raising my voice. Eventually I had to hang up. I’m reporting this to the ICO.
