Got one of those scam calls about a supposed accident again. This time I just blew a whistle into the phone (been getting these calls almost daily for ages now) and then hung up. The same guy, sounded Asian, rang back on a bunch of zeroes and had the cheek to joke about me doing it louder and again. I just left him on the line talking nonsense while I got on with my day, no idea when he gave up.

Received a rather unpleasant call from some chump at half eight on a Saturday evening, claiming they'd been in touch with another party regarding some alleged car accident (which, by the way, never happened). When I asked for details about this supposed incident, he tried to fish for my personal information instead. So, I thought I’d turn the tables and queried who he was. He stated he was from ‘accident advice services’. I pressed on: "Where are you based then?" He replied, "Manchester". I countered with, "And the postcode?" He stammered out, "WN3 6FB". Naturally, I followed with, "What road?" to which he replied “Wigan Road,” like that was going to win me over. When I asked him where he was calling from, he absurdly claimed, “France.” That’s when the conversation spiralled downhill, with neither of us holding back. At the end of the day, it’s best to keep them talking as long as possible, shower them with a slew of fictional details about yourself, and if they decide to get nasty, give it right back to them with interest. These blokes just keep ringing once they have your number; it’s like some bizarre game. The number that rang me was 0208 1506150.

I’ve discovered that the phone number is registered to Icon Global Services Ltd, based in Sunbury-on-Thames, which is in the south-west of London, as per the info from phonenumber4.co.uk. Their address is listed as Brooklands Close, just off Windmill Road. The location is clearly marked on their website. If I can dig this up in a mere five minutes, I do wonder why the relevant authorities can’t manage it just as quickly!

I've recently set up call blocking, and for the most part, it’s doing a solid job. However, this particular number managed to slip through. I noticed it on my phone but chose not to pick up. Curiosity got the better of me though, and I called back. The voice on the other end was that of a woman with an Indian accent. I caught her name, but it was a bit unclear. It makes one wonder why the Telephone Preference Service isn’t tackling these pesky calls more effectively. I've since added this number to my block list.

So apparently they’re from some government dept called CNDS, and they claim to get accident details from hospitals. I asked which of my family had been injured ‘cos none of us been in any accidents and I should go check on them. Then they just cut me off. This happened weeks after I’d been doing car insurance quotes, even tho we’re ex directory and registered with TPS, ticking all the boxes to avoid calls.
