Received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with Worldpay, suggesting that my business could enjoy savings of 20-40% on our card machine agreement. Unsure if this is genuine or just a scam.

I got a call from someone sayin they were with Worldpay, offering to save your business 20-40% on card machine contracts. I rang them back and the same place picked up, so it seems legit. Sounds like they’re trying to help out businesses with these tough living costs.

Honestly, I was about to report this number to the police but then I checked and realised it's actually a genuine company. If you know about Worldpay or FIS Global, they’re huge players in the merchant banking world, alongside Fiserv. Right now, they’re helping businesses save between 20 to 40% on card machine contracts. When you ring this number, you do get connected to them. So before jumping to conclusions and accusing them wrongly, maybe do a bit more digging first - don’t let a business that’s trying to assist get unfairly targeted.

Be cautious with those green flagged comments down there, they look dodgy. If anyone gets messages that seem fishy, text 7726 to report them. The police’s Action Fraud site advises this for phishing scams. Scammers managed to pinch over a billion pounds from people in the UK last year, a lot of which hit small businesses hard. Earlier this year, and the year before, there were a couple of TV shows on regular channels about phone scams. You can catch them now on iPlayer and My5. If you’ve got a phone and bank account, it’s definitely worth a watch.

Got a call from a company linked to Worldpay claiming they can cut my card machine fees by 20-40%. Thinking of going for it since I’m stuck with Dojo at the moment and their charges are just ridiculous!

Got a call today from a number claiming to be o2, trying to pitch some phone deals. I’d actually blocked a very similar number just yesterday, only difference was the last digit. Definitely a scam, watch out!
