I asked him why and who he was calling on behalf of, he said something but I couldn’t quite catch it so I asked a few times, still no clue what he said. I mentioned that O2 kinda have the monopoly here anyway. Told him I’m happy with my current plan and ended the call nicely.

They claimed to be from O2 saying I could upgrade my phone. I told them I don’t have O2 and they must have dialled the wrong number. They insisted they weren’t mistaken. When I asked who they were, they just said they knew me and then cut the call. Really unsettling and weird.

Today, I received a call from a rather articulate gentleman using this number, who was attempting to sell me life insurance. It felt like a classic ploy to peddle a dubious policy, just to swindle my cash and vanish without a trace afterwards. This number seems quite sketchy, and I wouldn't trust that chap as far as I could throw him! Stay vigilant, everyone!

SCAM ALERT! Make sure to report every scam call or text straight to the police fraud system. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and visit the ‘police.uk’ website. Find the ‘report phishing attempt’ section and carefully read all the info there. After that, put in all the scam details you have. Don’t forget to add any links or web addresses involved. You don’t need to sign up or share personal info unless you’ve actually lost money. Reporting all these scams is the only way police can keep track and help protect us from these criminals.

A couple of posts ago someone explained what you need to do to try and put an end to these overseas scammers fleecing vulnerable folks and pestering the rest of us. It does require a bit of effort but I’ve taken the time to report scam calls and texts to the police database (often just click the saved address in my favourites). Sadly, it’ll take thousands of us making these reports before there’s any real change, but thousands do report scam calls here daily. Don’t expect instant results, but if nobody bothers to take action, these scams will keep on without any stop.

I asked who he was and what he wanted, he just replied “it’s my phone, it’s fine.” I asked again but all I got was some mumbling that didn’t make any sense. So I ended the call.

I just got a call saying "you're under investigation for fraud, press 1 to talk to an officer." I pressed 1 and when a bloke picked up, he said "how can I help you today?" I told him "I’m being investigated for fraud" and then he cut me off. The whole call sounded a bit off, like some dodgy recording, and it scared me quite a bit. I got a call from someone saying they were from Global Network Security Protection wanting to renew my firewall subscription. Sounded like one of those Boiler Room scams, probably some call centre in India - their English was awful. When I asked them how they even had my credit card info, they tried to send me a link.
