Got a call from someone saying they were from Santander’s fraud department, trying to get my personal details. Definitely don’t trust this number or whoever is behind it.

I received a rather alarming voicemail purporting to be from HMRC. An American-accented woman was on the line, urging me not to dismiss the call and advising me to either call back myself or have my solicitor do so. I was quite anxious about it, so I decided to ring them back. To my surprise, an Asian gentleman answered and asked for my name. When I inquired about theirs, there was a rather awkward silence, and that’s when I decided to hang up. It dawned on me that it was a scam, but I must admit, I was genuinely concerned at first. It’s crucial for everyone to stay vigilant about these sorts of calls!

There was this asian guy and a girl with him who offered my brother a great price on an iPhone 8. But they ended up sending him 3 wrong phones on purpose. When he rang them up, they gave him an address to send the phones back and said he'd get the real one. He sent them back and tried calling again, but now they just won't pick up his calls.

Got a call from a woman named Rachel, sounded Asian, saying she was from Talktalk and my router was being attacked. I asked for more info and she gave me this number - 02081448547. Told her I’d already had about 10 calls from that same number. She just ended the call after that.

Got a call where the person said they were from BT, then suddenly switched to claiming they were from SKY, telling me my router was being hacked. They kept pushing to get remote access to my laptop. The guy had an Indian accent but sounded pretty believable. It was hard to end the call 'cause he wouldn't stop pestering me. I rang SKY to check if he was a genuine engineer and they said no way - really dodgy! The worst part is, most people just ignore these warnings and someone’s bound to fall for it eventually.

Received a call from someone claiming to be from BT's tech support about an issue with my router. They said they'd fix it, send a new one and even organise a refund. They asked me to do the refund via my bank’s website. I ringed up BT directly and found out it's a scam. Been getting a ton of calls from them non-stop. They mentioned names like Neo, Austin and Leo and gave me this number to prove who they were. The other number they used was 0208114454.

Got a load of calls in the past couple days after the power went out - bloke claimed he was from BT Malicious Calls Unit and asked for my full name - gave him Jack Parker - number 02081448547 and address as 44 Mather Street, London (fake one) he didn't have a postcode - said sorry for bothering me and then ended the call.

I've received more than twelve calls in the past couple of days after the power cut. When I answered one, I claimed to be from the BT Malicious Call Unit and demanded his full name - he said Jack Parker. I also asked for his number, which was 02081448547, and an address - he gave me 44 Mather Street in London, but I suspect it’s a ruse. There was a lot of chatter in the background, like a call centre environment. Upon realizing he was caught out, he quickly apologised for troubling me and ended the call.

Got a call this morning from someone named 'Rachel' saying my router was showing errors and they needed to send an engineer with a replacement to sort it out. I asked for a contact number to double check, and she gave me this number. If you search it on Google, it brings you right here to this site.

Received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be from BT, stating there was an issue with my router. They were quite pushy, urging me to power on my computer and comply with their guidance. I chose to ignore their requests. Interestingly, they provided me with their number (which I’ve noted). I’m adamant that this is a scam attempt.

Just got a call from some bloke on 02081448547 saying that our Virgin router was being hacked or something, and they were getting warning alerts. I told him I'd have to check he was really from Virgin and then call back. My mum fell for a similar scam a while ago, so I’m being extra careful now.

This morning (9/8/16) I got a call from someone with an Asian accent who said her name was Hazel and that she was from BT’s internet team. She claimed there was an issue with my router and offered to help fix it. She said she was ringing from the number I was seeing. After I explained I didn’t have a BT contract and asked for proof she worked there, she just hung up. When I checked 1471, the call actually came from 0121 425 5587. Definitely seems like another scam to me.

I just got a call from 0208 144 8547. I suspected it was some sort of scam but decided to humour them. I asked for their number 'for security reasons' so I could ring them back, and they gave me that exact number. Obviously, I’m not planning to call them. What worried me most was they said they would come to my home to swap out my router, which could really fool anyone who isn’t careful with these types of scams. They said they were from BT.

Just like the others, they said they were from BT and warned me about some kind of security issue on my phone line. They tried getting into my PC but i rang Virgin Media, my provider, and they said it was a scam and they were tryna hack my computer. Ended the call right away.

I got a call from this firm saying they were from BT and there was some issue with our router. They told my husband to get on our computer and stand by the router. He refused and asked what the exact problem was. The caller said they handle all routers for BT and Sky, but we’re with neither, which made me suspicious straight away. She said routers were being hacked to steal info. The lady on the phone had a hard time understanding him and then handed the phone over to a bloke. My husband said we don’t even use a computer, just internet for the TV. Then the bloke just hung up!

Some bloke called claiming to be Kevin “Williams” from BT. I asked why his number showed up as international on my caller ID. He reckoned it was because of the router he was using?? I used to work at BT for over 37 years, so I told him the number that shows up is sent by the exchange itself. Then he said he was calling from London and gave me the number 0208 144 8647. Anyone legit from BT would say it’s 020 8144 8547. I’m pretty sure this was a scam call, might be wrong but oh well!

Received a rather alarming call from someone purporting to be from BT, claiming that my email account was experiencing hacking issues.
