The caller was really pushy and quite impolite, claiming to be from an energy company. They called me mornings and evenings, at least a couple times each week. I've now blocked the number. Total SCAM. I was under the impression that cold calling got banned ages ago but it seems these scammers either haven’t heard or just don’t bother.

Pretending to be from Global Energy but definitely a scammer. I gave him a made-up company name, fake bill info and reference numbers, and he said everything looked fine. Claimed he'd got 36 businesses signed up already and wanted his manager to ring back in 5 mins to sort a special business account. Told him to ring the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and explain who he was, who he called and why. I also told him about the possible fines.

Some bloke called Tony Smith rang my mum claiming to be from some government department, saying she was owed £3,000 in overpaid fees. He asked for her first name to put on a cheque and mentioned a solicitor called Julie Green would be in touch. He gave her some claim reference number and insisted there were no charges or need for bank info. My mum got suspicious and ended the call, but he kept ringing her back loads of times. Don’t know what the scam is exactly, but it’s definitely annoying.

Some bloke called Kelvin Bell rang me up saying I was owed £3,500 from some government scheme. I was suspicious right away but let him go on about me getting a £175 Amazon voucher and a solicitor named Linda Edwards who’d call with my cheque, stamp my cars, hand me the cheque, and I’d have to put both into my bank account. When I said I didn’t have £175 to buy the Amazon voucher, he asked if I could borrow it off anyone. I said no, so he said he’d hold the money until I could pay it and to ring back then. What a load of rubbish. I really hope no one falls for this nonsense.

Once again, I got a call from someone called Tony Smith, sounded like he had a strong Indian accent, saying I was owed £3000 back from bank fees plus some interest and compensation. He said a solicitor would ring tomorrow with the cheque and that I’d need to prove who I am with ID - passport, driving licence or birth certificate. He told me just to sign the documents they'd bring and I could keep a carbon copy ‘for proof’ (proof of what, exactly?). Clearly a scam, probably after my personal info to steal my ID or something.

This morning, a bloke named "Tony Smith" rang my 87 year old mum saying he was from a government money office and that my late dad was due £3000. He said someone would visit her to hand over the cheque in person. It sounded pretty believable, but luckily my mum was sure it was a scam and gave me a ring with what he said.

Got a phone call from some bloke called Tony Green, claiming my [deceased] wife was owed £3000 in extra bank charges. He told me to pop down to Costcutter and buy a £150 PaySafe Voucher right away - like this arvo! Then a solicitor named Julie Green was meant to ring back to 'approve' everything and give me a cheque for the £3K. Supposedly, I’m meant to take both the voucher and cheque to the bank. Seems obvious the cheque will bounce and they’ll just nick the £150 from me.

Nobody said a word when I answered, and this number has called me like 10 times in the past hour. Honestly, feels like pure harassment.

Earlier today, my aunt received a call from a chap named Paul Ryan, who informed her that he had a cheque for £3,000 that was apparently set to arrive by 3 o'clock this afternoon.

I picked up the phone when this number rang, but there was silence on the other end. I could make out some faint chatter in the background, almost like it was a call centre or something similar.

Got a dodgy call from 02081446106 on my work phone. The bloke, called Kelvin, claimed to be from the FCA in London (as if that means anything to me). Total scammers. When I told him to remove my number and said I wanted to speak with his manager, suddenly his English got a lot better, like he was pretending before. Proper con artists.

Just arrived at my elderly mums place and she was on the phone with an Asian lady who told her to buy a £125 paysafe card. Supposedly it was to pay Roy Morrison for a bank refund linked to my late dad. Really strange cos if it was a real bank refund, the bank would’ve got in touch directly and surely wouldn’t ask for money like that.

I received three phone calls yesterday, on the 16th of September 2020, followed by another three this morning, the 17th. Each time, they didn't say a word. When I returned the call, they insisted they were from a government agency and requested my full name. After providing that, they went on to ask for my address, and I thought to myself-surely, a legitimate government body would already have my phone number in their records? This has to be a case of spam, without a doubt!

Someone has rang my old mum 16 times within an hour. Every time she picks up, there's silence. Even after we warned them we'd report it to the police for harrassment, they haven't stopped.

They claimed it was a survey about energy companies and said it wasn’t a sales call, but just wanted to find out who our supplier is. I didn’t let them get any further questions out!

I just got a call from a bloke with a really normal English name, claiming he was calling on behalf of Alpha Solutions. Told him straight up I wasn’t interested and asked him to take me off their list, then ended the call. Funny how this number seems to be linked to loads of different businesses!!

Got a call from a guy who sounded Asian but had a very British name, which seems to happen a lot. He asked for me by name and even knew my address and postcode. He wanted to have a word about my energy supplier. I told him I had no clue about it and didn’t manage any energy stuff. Then he kept pressing, saying he wasn’t trying to switch my supplier, just needed to find out who it was. Told him again I didn’t know, and asked if he was even paying attention! After that, he asked if he could speak to someone else who might know. I just ended the call there.

Got calls from this number twice in just a couple of days. It's some kind of automated message about money being withdrawn from my bank account within the last quarter of an hour. Feels wrong and scary, especially if this kinda thing is actually happening. Reckon stuff like this shouldn't even be allowed.

They rang me a few times and mentioned my name right away. Then they said they needed me to verify some info to chat about my life insurance, which I’ve never had, and also something about car insurance, which I don’t have either. I told them I had no idea who they were and ended the call straight away. After that, I just blocked the number.
