11 yearsWe received a call from this number asking us to send £500, claiming that we would receive a refund of £5,220 for bank charges. They instructed us to transfer the £500 to someone named Ramesh Kushwaha in New Delhi, India, through MoneyGram. Once that was completed, they told us to call back with a special code, and only then would they transfer the funds into our account. We've reported this to Consumer Direct at 08454 04 05 06, and we urge anyone else who encounters this to do the same. This is definitely a scam.Ramesh KushwahaNew DelhiIndiaMoneyGramConsumer Direct11 yearsI had a rather sketchy encounter with a chap who had an Asian accent, asserting that he was associated with the Office of Fair Trading, specifically the Credit Reclaim Division. He insisted that if we dispatched £300 to a couple of individuals via MoneyGram, we’d be entitled to receive £6,350 in interest that we hadn’t been compensated for by our bank. He introduced himself as Thomas Wilson. We strongly believe this was nothing but a scam.Office of Fair TradingCredit Reclaim DivisionMoneyGramThomas Wilson11 yearsWe had a similar experience ourselves. This person claimed that we needed to cough up £400 as an admin charge, promising a refund of £4,000 in bank fees. Needless to say, we flagged this to the local authorities.
