This afternoon around 2:30pm my phone rang but I missed it because I didn’t notice it. Later, I got a voicemail from a woman who sounded like she was speaking in a broken English American accent. The message was all distorted and I could hardly understand it. She claimed I was in big trouble with HMRC and warned that if I or my lawyer didn’t contact them soon, I’d have serious legal problems. Seriously, how are these scammers still running around? This has got to stop, it’s insane! Don’t pick up if this number calls you - it’s definitely a scam!

Just got a call on my phone from 02081441503 about half an hour ago. Didn't pick up as the number looked unfamiliar. Later, I heard this automated lady's voice leaving a message in quite poor English, saying something about needing to call back straightaway or I’d face big trouble. It said it was from HMRC, but after seeing what people have said on here, I’m gonna hold off and wait for another call before doing anything.

I wasn't able to pick up the phone when this number rang, but my partner did. They were greeted by a pre-recorded message claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs, advising that we shouldn't overlook it and to return the call. It struck me as rather fishy, so I decided against ringing back. I've since blocked the number.

Got a missed call and assumed it was the hospital ringing me, so I rang back. Some guy answered, claiming he was from customs and excise. I ended the call straight away. I’m certain I'll be bombarded with more calls like that, so I’ve gone ahead and reported it to the police and BT.

I got a call on my mobile from 02081441503 on 26th October 2018 around 3.15pm. When I picked up, there was a recorded voice of a woman with an American accent saying she was from HMRC. She insisted I had to phone back straight away or get my solicitor involved, warning of legal trouble if I didn't. I felt really worried at first, thinking maybe I'd messed up somehow. After doing a bit of calm thinking, I decided not to ring back. Luckily, I came across this site and later read info from HMRC warning about these types of scam calls.

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me I owed nearly £4000 in tax and would be taken to court if I didn’t pay up. The bloke rattled off all kinds of legal jargon about seizing my stuff. I played along like I was worried, and then he told me a solicitor appointed by the court would get in touch before chatting politely and hanging up. Looks like they’ve marked my number to ring back, probably later today. I’m quite eager to get the next call. I’m gonna act really upset, maybe even sniffling like I’m about to cry, and make sure to record the whole thing!

This morning I got a call from this number. It was some automated voice from America warning me about “consequences” if I didn’t ring them back. I decided to call them anyway. When I spoke to the bloke, he asked if I had a solicitor. I told him no way, I’m not falling for any dodgy scam like that!

My partner received a phone call from this number telling him he was being investigated by HMRC and needed to get legal advice quick. It freaked him out a bit. The call was automated. I rang my accountant just to be sure and they confirmed it’s a total scam because HMRC don’t call like that without warning. They always send a formal letter first if there’s any issue. We’ve reported the number to HMRC ourselves now. Definitely block this number!

Then he wanted my national insurance number, but I told him there's no way I’d give personal info over the phone. After that, he warned me that someone would be coming to my house at 10 o’clock.
