Got a scary voicemail from a London number saying it was HMRC and telling me to ring back straight away. Didn’t ring them back, but it did give me a fright so I looked it up online and found loads of people saying the same thing - definitely a scam. Normally I’m not easily fooled but this one really threw me off. Best advice is don’t return calls to that number. If you’re unsure, just search for the official HMRC contact details and use those. Like someone else mentioned, HMRC usually sends letters, not recorded phone messages.

On the 1st November 2018, at around 2pm, I got a call from 0208 1441067. It was one of those automated voicemail messages like many others have mentioned. Honestly, companies behind these calls really ought to face legal action.

I got a voicemail from someone saying they were from HMRC, sounded really scary. When I rang back, I didn’t say who I was, but they already started threatening me with court action.
