Just like the person who posted on 11/09/2019, I’d suggest not picking up and instead using this website to check things out. The stories shared here about these calls are truly disturbing, and even though it looks like most here dodge the scams, I’m sure some people fall for them, or else these fraudsters wouldn’t bother with such fancy schemes. I got a call from this very number not long ago, and honestly, it gave me chills knowing there are awful con artists on the other side. When are the authorities going to step in and put an end to this terrible nonsense once and for all?

After seeing all the comments here, I decided not to pick up. Nowadays, I don’t bother answering calls from unknown numbers. I just jot down the number in my notebook and check it online later. I've ended up with a pretty big list of dodgy callers so far.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying she was from the FCA about a PPI claim I supposedly made, which I definitely did not. Felt like a scam to me, so I ended up blocking the number straight away.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from the UK and part of the "FCA". Told them straight-up that they weren’t, then ended the call. Definitely seemed like a scam to me.

Early this morning I received a call, so I checked out the feedback here. After dealing with constant smart meter telemarketers for ages, this felt like the first proper scam call I've gotten in a long time. They said they were from the government? Given all the mess they're in at the moment, I wouldn’t trust that for a second.

They claimed to be from the government, some Finance Regulation dept. Said my bank was charging me too much. When I asked which bank they meant, they refused to say, saying it was for security reasons or something. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Today, 4/9/2019, I got a call from someone with a Asian accent claiming to be from the London Government saying I was due some money. I didn’t even let him finish before I ended the call. Definitely a SCAM.

Got a call from some bloke with what sounded like an Asian accent, loud background noise like he was in some call centre. Said he was from the Ministry of Justice or something. I just told him "Yeah, right," and he slammed the phone down. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Got a call from 02081339560 on the 2nd of September, asking to speak with my missus. I told him she wasn’t around and tried to find out who he was, but he cut me off saying he’d call again later and just hung up. Not even bothered to ask when she might be back! These calls really get on my nerves.

Got a call from someone claiming they were with First Call Reclaim and said I was owed a £3,000 refund. Then asked if I had some form of ID ready to show them. I didn’t really find out what the scam was all about though. Wonder if they’re trying to nick your personal details or something?

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Tony Smith, said he was with the Post Call Reclaim Company. Told me he worked for the Ministry of Justice. Sounds like a total scam to me!

Told the person on the line that I’m signed up with the telephone preference service and they should write down their message instead. They claimed they couldn't possibly post a cheque for £3,000! Definitely a scam in my book. Blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone sounding Indian earlier, said they were from some kind of ministry. They asked how I was doing, I just said I was fine and then ended the call. Pretty much the same as all the other ones I’ve had.

Got a call on my landline, which is both ex-directory and on the TPS. Before the answering machine even kicked in, they just hung up. Lucky I didn’t pick up, after reading what others have said here. It’s crazy these scammers keep using UK landline numbers and no one seems to be able to stop them. I’m flagging this as ‘Harassing’ since it’s just one of loads of 0208 numbers pestering me. Didn’t stay on the line long enough to hear the ‘Dangerous’ bit of the chat.

I got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be Roy Morrison from the government’s justice department. It just felt off, so I told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Reading the other posts, seems clear this is a scam.

Some bloke with an accent said he was from TalkTalk, but trust me, it was a complete scam. I just pretended to be interested and kept chatting to him, dragging it out as long as I could. Honestly, every minute you waste on these types might be the minute someone else avoids a proper mess. Stay sharp!

He called asking for my wife's name, but when I asked who he was, he just hung up!

I got a call similar to the one mentioned before. The person on the line said I needed to get an Amazon voucher for £150 to cover some tax supposedly owed to HMRC. She also said a female solicitor, who was bringing me a £3000 refund from bank fees, would come by to pick up the voucher. Obviously, that’s not how tax stuff works. I told the caller, who said his name was Roy Morrison, that it sounded like a scam and I didn’t want any more calls or visits.
