Phone number ☎️ 02081238719 👆 is reported as a fraudulent scam involving automated calls falsely claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs. Call recipients are urged to contact an alleged officer, usually named Claire Williams or similar, under threat of severe legal consequences including arrest and asset seizure. The tone is typically threatening and aggressive, often with non-British accents. Genuine HMRC communications never operate this way and always initiate contact by post, never with aggressive phone calls demanding immediate payment or solicitor details. Victims report distress and attempts to extract money or personal information. The consensus is to ignore, block, and report the number to the authorities, as it is linked to persistent harassment and deception with no legitimate connection to HMRC.

Got a call just like this one. HMRC would never contact you like that! It was some robotic voice saying something along the lines of; "This is Claire Williams from HM Revenue & Customs, urgent matter needing your immediate attention. To resolve this, ring 020 8123 8719, that’s 020 8123 8719. Please don’t ignore this message, call us back straight away. If we don’t hear from you or your lawyer, expect serious legal trouble. I received the identical automated message too. I recommend purchasing a loud whistle. Give the number a call, while keeping your number concealed. Once they answer, blow the whistle as loudly as possible. With any luck, if you manage to deafen them, they might cease their foolish little game.

I also received a phone call from this number today (1st December 2018). The person on the other end was claiming that I had evaded taxes. It was rather frightening, but I always rely on logic to overcome such situations. If it actually was the HM Revenue, they would directly contact the company I work for, instead of contacting me directly. It's quite clever of these individuals to attempt this though.

What a weird day! I nearly freaked out when they told me I owed the government £4950 and if I didn’t pay up right away, they’d report me to the police for tax evasion and I’d get arrested. Totally scary for a moment. But after sitting with it for a bit and coming down from the shock, it’s pretty clear it’s just a scam. Sad that people have to stoop to this to make a living. Also funny cause I don’t even have that kind of money! Haha. The number was 0208 123 87 19 if anyone’s wondering.

Got a robo call first saying I need to ring them back, then an Indian guy came on the line claiming I owed £18,000 and that I was going to court. He told me if I didn’t pay up, they’d take my passport and freeze my bank account, even said my house could be taken too. He accused me of cheating the government out of tax money. The whole thing was really intimidating. After I hung up, I figured it was all dodgy. Proper scary stuff for anyone to go through.

Please disregard any automated messages from Clair Williams claiming imminent legal action on behalf of HMCS. It is uncommon to receive a threatening phone call in such matters, as letters are typically the preferred mode of communication from the tax office.

It is advised to block the number and avoid returning any calls to it.

Just got an automated call supposedly from a woman at HMRC warning me about some legal trouble. When I phoned back, I could hear what sounded like a busy call centre and a man with an Indian accent using a very English-sounding name. He really didn’t want to answer my questions. Lucky I had no clue what my national insurance number was, or I might have been tempted to give it. Looking back, it’s pretty obvious no official caller would ask you to confirm your own details like that. Poor anyone else who ends up searching this number after making that call.
