Yeah, total call centre vibes - there was that pause before they picked up. I went straight in with "Hello, potential scammer," since my phone flags numbers like that. He was like, "How do you know that?" and I just said, "My phone told me." He then just said "Well, good luck then," and hung up on me.

Utterly relentless! I've been receiving calls from some 'Claims Management' lot regarding an accident that I’ve never even experienced. After I left one chap rambling on while I blocked his number, he promptly switched to ringing me from another line. Even after blocking that one, he just kept chasing me down on my mobile. It's infuriating! Something really needs to be done about these types of calls-especially considering how terrifying this must be for someone who's elderly.

STAY AWAY! These lot are scammers pretending to be from banks like Barclays, saying they're calling to confirm if you made a purchase of £xxxx.xx with some company. They’ll claim the transaction is "pending" and wait for you to say 'no'. Then they start asking loads of questions to ‘stop the payment right away, Sir’, including for your full 16-digit card number - which no proper bank would ever ask for! Usually, they might ask for just the last four digits and some security info you gave them at sign-up (like your mum’s maiden name).

STAY AWAY! 2. They might try another trick where they tell you to open your bank’s online app and ‘assist’ you with moving your funds into a so-called secure account, promising to transfer it back later after setting up a new safe account. Quite audacious, I'd say!

The voice on the other end definitely had an Indian or Pakistani tone. I lost interest straight away when he started saying I was due some kind of payout for an accident I supposedly had, even though he couldn’t say when it happened. He claimed he was working for a third party solicitor and mentioned the call was being taped. I just kept chatting and in the end, he hung up. I’d say that’s a small victory for me!
