I've just had a call from the number listed above, but I chose not to pick up. They left a voicemail claiming to represent HMRC regarding some supposed tax evasion, threatening that a warrant for my arrest was imminent. They urged me to return their call, but I have absolutely no intention of doing so. This sort of thing is utterly unacceptable; it needs to be put an end to. Such scams target those who may be in a vulnerable position, and it’s downright disgraceful.

Disturbing message regarding a tax scam
7 years
Earlier today, I received a rather alarming phone call from a gentleman claiming to be a police officer, supposedly calling from an office somewhere in London. He asserted that I was in some serious trouble regarding tax evasion amounting to £3900! To make things even more unsettling, he had my mobile number and an old address on hand. After I ended the call, he was persistent enough to ring me three additional times. Not surprisingly, he refused to provide any written confirmation of his claims. It’s about time we put an end to these fraudulent activities!

It's a right dodgy scheme for tax dodging, if you ask me. I decided to ring them back, acting as if I owned a takeaway from Bangladesh. The person on the other end was an absurd chap, claiming his name was 'Mark Watson' but he sounded distinctly Filipino!

Today, I received a rather alarming phone call where the caller insisted that I'd be visited at my residence and arrested for tax evasion. They even had my address! I asked them to send me the information in writing, but shortly after, I received another call from 0845 8505505. This time, the bloke said he was on his way to my home. Quite distressing, to say the least.

Absolutely ridiculous! I just received a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, insisting that there’s a warrant out for my arrest due to tax evasion. Honestly, what a load of rubbish! It’s clearly a scam of the highest order!

I received a missed call from this number. Upon returning the call, I was greeted by an individual claiming to represent HMRC, who then proceeded to inform me that I was allegedly involved in a criminal investigation concerning various unlawful activities and tax dodging. They inquired if I had legal counsel. I cut them off, stating that I would rather reach out to the official HMRC number to clarify the matter. To my surprise, the caller shouted "What?" and insisted that I ought to approach this situation with more gravity. Clearly, this is a scam operation attempting to intimidate people. - caller: 02081230451

Just had a rather alarming voicemail from a robotic voice claiming to represent HMRC, saying I'll be taken into custody for tax evasion due to my failure to file a tax return for my account. Quite frankly, this is absolute nonsense and I’m considering it a scam. Be wary of this number! - Caller: HMRC

I decided to return the call and a rather dubious 'gentleman' on the other end claimed to be from HMRC, introducing himself as 'Officer David'. What a laugh - it’s clearly a scam! This is NOT a legitimate HMRC number: 020 8123 0451.
