I'm left wondering whether this could be a scam of some sort. I requested that they send any renewal details through the post, but he insisted that they don't send out renewals-only confirmations. In the end, I made up a tale about my cards being at my son's place to evade further questioning.

Received a rather suspicious call earlier today, the 28th of May, from someone claiming to represent an insurance company for washing machines. They inquired whether my machine was functioning properly and mentioned that my three-year policy was set to lapse today. I had my doubts, as I’m fairly certain I don’t even possess such insurance. I mentioned that my washer is rather ancient and not worth insuring, at which point the call was swiftly disconnected from their side. Had I indeed had a policy, I would have racked my brain for a few pertinent questions, like what was my policy number, what address was on file, and which credit card provider they supposedly had on record. It’s worth noting that while many companies prefer automatic renewals, no legitimate firm would make a call on the very last day of a policy’s validity. Total SCAM!!!

I'm in two minds about whether this is genuine or not. Received a call regarding a washing machine cover - I purchased one roughly a year ago and took out a five-year protection plan back then, so hearing that my coverage has lapsed is utter nonsense, particularly since I've got the documentation to prove it! The caller then insisted that I must have acquired another cover in the meantime, which is simply not the case. When I firmly stated 'NO', he promptly disconnected the line. As is usually the case with such calls, I refrained from divulging any personal information, as I prefer to ensure I'm dealing with a bona fide caller.

To be honest, I was quite sceptical as I didn’t think we even had such a policy in place. When I mentioned that I simply didn’t have the funds to pay for it this year, there was an awkward silence and then, poof, he abruptly hung up. It was rather unsettling, especially since he had my name and address.
