I saw I’d missed a call from this number and decided to call back. Right away, I got put through to an answerphone. What was odd is the voice on the message had a clear American accent, even though the call came from inside the UK. That just felt off to me, so I ended the call and tried to find out where the number was from. Honestly, in times like these, you’d hope folks would stop with these dodgy tricks. Don’t answer if they ring! A bloke with an Indian or Pakistani sounding accent told me I’d been in a car accident and that I could get compensation. I asked how he knew that and told him to remove my details from their database so they don’t keep ringing. He didn’t really give me a proper reply, and as soon as I said I’ve never had any accident he hung up. This isn’t the first time I’ve got calls like this. Honestly, I wish they’d just get a proper job like everyone else. I’ve just blocked the number now.

I only became a UK resident a month back and haven’t even been here before. I don’t even own a car here yet, and no accidents at all in my home country in the last year. When I asked them to tell me my name since they called, they couldn’t even answer properly. Seriously, be more clever than this!
