5 yearsJust got a call from some bloke named William Bach claiming he’s with a law company called Legal Finance. The email he used ends with .io, which is actually linked to the British Indian Ocean Territory - not really what you'd expect from a legit UK firm. He says they help people get their money back from dodgy investment scams and wants you to send over documents and payment proofs. Their website is https://www.legalfinance.io/, but honestly, it looks really sketchy for a proper law firm. He was ringing from a London number too! Be careful with these guys!William BachLegal FinanceIndian Ocean TerritoryLondon5 yearsGot a call saying I’m about to be arrested over some unpaid taxes 🤡 then they just stuck me on hold. What a joke!6 yearsAn irate bloke rang up my elderly folks, insisting they pay for some TV insurance renewal. Thankfully, one of them saw through it and wasn’t having any of it, telling the blustering man to do one. Before they hung up, they passed on my number - he tends to get muddled and always asks for me when things get tricky. If this grumpy guy rings me, I’ll be putting him straight, no doubt!6 yearsGot a call from a bloke who was proper pushy, claiming my mum had insured 4 appliances back in 2018. When we asked for details, he lost his temper straight away. Mum hasn’t bought any new appliances since 2002. Then he switched his story from a renewal to say we’d missed a payment, and suddenly he was trying to sell us a better deal. We told him we weren’t interested, and he got really narked off.6 yearsGot a call from someone claiming I’d insured my telly with them. Told her I hadn’t and that I’d chat to my husband about it when he's back from work. Then she suddenly threatened to take £300 from my bank and just hung up on me out of nowhere!6 yearsGot a call from someone saying it was about insurance for my white goods at home, and they actually knew my address and bank. When I asked how they got that info, the person had the nerve to say I needed to check my attitude. I told them all my insurance is with a big, reputable company and just renewed it not long ago. Ended the call and blocked the number straight away.6 yearsThis number rang me on a different phone too, marked as risky. They were claiming we still had three more years left on our TV insurance. I usually get mine through John Lewis, which comes with a gratis 5-year guarantee.John Lewis6 yearsToday, an unsavoury chap from what sounded like a fictitious utility firm gave me a ring, probing about my home appliances and their warranty details. It struck me as rather dodgy, and his intentions appeared quite suspicious. I have a sneaky feeling this could be a scam.6 yearsGot a call from some bloke called Theo claiming we arranged some utility cover with Total Utilities a couple of years back and that we owe them money. I told him straight away that it was nonsense and he just hung up on me. Proper dodgy behaviour. I can easily see how an older, more vulnerable person might fall for it. Tried ringing the number again but it said it’s no longer in service. Have gone ahead and blocked it now.TheoTotal Utilities6 yearsHas anybody thought about telling the police about this? I saw that Cover Team is registered on Companies House and connected to a Daryl Ward, plus another business. They only started up in January 2020, so there’s no way they had insurance back in 2018. Honestly, it’s great that websites like this exist to help protect older and more vunerable folks from getting fooled.Cover TeamCompanies HouseDaryl Ward6 yearsThey always hang up without saying a word or leaving any message behind.6 yearsThis number rang my mum who’s quite old and hassled her about some kitchen insurance thing from 2018, saying she owed over £300. It really shook her up. I confronted the bloke and he kept going on about the data privacy law, but I told him where to go in no uncertain terms. Absolute bastards, terrifying an elderly lady like that. Hope they get what’s coming to them, s####s.6 yearsJust got a call from 02080899381 not long ago, feels just like the one the person mentioned an hour ago. They tried to tell me the same thing about withdrawing money from my bank cause supposedly they have my card info. I told them flat out I never signed up for anything and asked to cancel whatever policy they reckoned I bought. Gonna hang tight and see if anything else comes of it.6 yearsPretty much the same as what's been mentioned before. This afternoon my mum got a call where someone tried to sell her an extension on her TV insurance. Mum told them she didn’t even have insurance for the TV anywhere else. Then the woman on the phone got quite pushy, claiming she had all the documents to prove it. What’s scary is the caller ended up giving details, even a password mum’s used elsewhere. Plus she said she was able to withdraw money from mum’s bank account.6 yearsMy mum just received a call from these lot! The bloke was really pushy and nasty, telling her she owed money for some TV insurance she supposedly signed up for back in 2018 (definitely a scam). I grabbed the phone after and he started shouting insults at me, calling me a liar. I told him I'd want to see something in writing before believing a word. Then he rang back, this time shouting at me to cough up the “outstanding balance.” What a cheeky tosser! Properly rude and aggressive the whole time.6 yearsMy mum got a series of calls on the 25th of September, about 11 in total, all wanting the last four digits of her card for some TV insurance from 2018 costing £300. It’s exactly like what others have mentioned here. The callers claimed to be from Cover Team and gave out this number, 01702 662333, which I believe is actually a legit company. They were really pushy and quite impolite. I’m planning to reach out to Cover Team on Monday to let them know someone’s using their name for this scam. Watch out, everyone!Cover Team6 yearsI got a call from a woman who claimed I’d signed up for some insurance back in 2018. She said because I hadn’t used it, they were lowering the monthly payment. I told her I had no idea what she was talking about. Then she asked me to verify the last four digits of my bank card. I hesitated and put off giving any info, and she said she’d ring me again later. I don’t have any insurance like that, so if they do call back, I’m not picking up.6 yearsThe number 0208 089 9381 rang me and the person on the other end sounded really polite, but I quickly realised he was trying to scam me out of £300. He claimed my late wife had taken insurance on our TV and I had to pay straight away. When I challenged him, he suddenly got really nasty and rude. I asked him to send me the bill in the post to see if he was for real, and that's when he just hung up on me. Seems like a classic con, so watch out for this one.6 yearsGot a call from 02080899381 saying I supposedly took out TV insurance back in 2018 and now owe £100. They warned if I didn’t pay, it would jump to £300. They even knew the first four digits of my bank card and my home address. I just told them they were a fraud and ended the call. This happened on 21st Sept 2020.6 yearsGot a ring from this number earlier today, 18/09/2020. The caller said they were from my TV insurance company and that I needed to update my policy. They gave me a credit card number that started off right, but when I asked for the rest, the details didn’t match up. Then they said I must’ve got a new card and asked for that number too. That’s when I just ended the call. This is actually the fifth time I’ve been contacted in the past couple weeks, but this time it was from a different phone number.6 yearsCan someone tell me the name of this company? My mum has already sent a payment and now she’s trying to get it cancelled.6 yearsGot a call saying my TV insurance from 2018 was up for renewal and they could give me a cheaper rate. Weird thing is, they even mentioned my bank. I never actually took out any insurance though, and told them that a few times. But each time, they got louder and pushier. In the end, I just cut them off. Definitely seemed like a dodgy scam to grab my bank info.6 yearsThe number 02080899381 rang me up saying they're doing checks on our TV cable and connection. My hubby mentioned we've been having some colour issues, and that someone would come by Monday to sort it out. After seeing these reviews though, I'm starting to feel a bit anxious about it all.6 yearsThey called me saying I have three years left on a TV insurance policy I don’t even own and tried to get my bank info to “lower” it. They got really rude when I didn’t comply. Quite a scary experience, honestly.6 yearsGot a call about renewing my TV insurance, which I don’t even have. Told them I never signed up for anything, but they claim I started a 5-year plan back in 2018. They offered me a £50 discount or something. Honestly, I don’t remember ever having TV insurance. They said they’ll send me some paperwork to cancel it. Strange experience!6 yearsGot a call from someone saying I had to renew insurance for my Samsung TV. Told them I don’t own a Samsung TV, then they started accusing me of forgetting stuff. They said they’d post me a cancellation bill!
