Got a voicemail where someone was asking for Lily and said to ring back and speak to her. Their English was pretty rough, and besides catching the word 'church', everything else was just a blur. Definitely not planning on returning the call.

I got a voicemail from 020 8089 4875, but honestly, I couldn’t make out what they were saying.

Just like loads of others said, it’s all about your gas bill or something similar. They left me a couple of messages on my phone. Funny thing is, my phone and the entire building belong to a church.

Like a bunch of others here, some lady called herself Anna or something, sounded like her English wasn’t great. She asked if I was the scout treasurer and told me to grab my electric bill. When I asked if she was recording the call, she just hung up on me.

Had this call loads with one of our church clients, seems to be some dodgy energy broker pretending to be legit but really just trying to scam charities. We're an accounting practice and since we're listed on the charity commission site as contacts for a bunch of churches around here, we keep getting hassled. Spent a good ten mins going back and forth with a woman on the phone, sounded like she was from Asia, trying to fish out info so she could ring the church directly. Honestly, don’t be fooled by this nonsense!

Total con. Gave a name like "Anna" but never mentioned what company or organisation they were ringing for. Asked straight away to speak to the "village hall treasurer" and when I questioned it, they claimed to be a broker. Told them to take my details off their list but they just kept talking over me. After me saying goodbye about half a dozen times while they carried on, I finally ended the call.

Got a call from an Indian woman who said our number was listed as the treasurer's contact for our charity, which it definitely isn't. She wanted to talk to the treasurer but I asked which company she was ringing from and couldn't really catch what she said. She mentioned some sort of discount deal for charities, so I told her to send the details to our info@ email, but of course, we never heard back. Just the same old cold caller stuff.

I got a call from some woman who wanted to speak to the Scout Treasurer, but I had no clue who that was. She claimed their energy company had handed over the charity's details to offer discounted prices. There was a lot of background sound, like it was a call centre, and the lady’s accent sounded Indian. Definitely going to block their number now.

Got a call from some dodgy call centre pretending to be utilities. I just blocked the number and didn’t bother answering after that!

Got a call about some supposedly unpaid bills for the local community centre, but seemed dodgy to me. Definitely a scam trying to swindle money for village hall utilities or something. Watch out for this one!

Beware of this charity scam pretending to be from utilities. Don’t get fooled by it, it’s definitely a trick.

Got a call asking for our Scout Treasurer, but I’d already stepped down last year. They said they were ringing about some VAT benefits that energy companies offer to charities. They even mentioned the supplier’s name, so seemed legit at first. Over 8 days, they called me twice every day and left loads of voicemails from two different numbers. The caller was a woman with an oriental name, Jenny, I think. She started getting quite irritable and pushy when I didn’t want to give her info. Eventually I just had to block the numbers using BT Protect to stop the hassle.

My Scout group just got a call from someone claiming to be from the utility company, but it was definitely a scam.

I missed a call from a number I didn’t recognise. It’s odd becuase I’ve been getting a few calls lately. Since I work with a charity, I reckon they probably got my details through the charity commission like loads of others.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the UK charity department, said I was a treasurer for some charity. Their accent sounded Indian and background chatter wasn’t English at all. It was pretty clear this was a dodgy scam, probably trying to rip off a charity. Total rubbish and seems like one of those nasty fraud attempts.

Just like everyone else has said, it’s a total scam. They send you an email with a contract attachment called docuscan or something, trying to get you to switch your electricity provider. The deal is rigged so they get about 25% commission of what you pay yearly. Honestly, steer well clear of this one, it’s dodgy as anything.

Got a call from what sounded like an Indian call centre - a woman speaking with loads of background chatter. She was asking for the treasurer of a scout group, which happens to be me, saying something about a utility bill. Total rubbish, since we don’t pay any bills of that kind at all. The only explanation I can think of is them finding my number on the charity commission site. Quite suspicious really.

I've been getting calls from this number quite a few times, but I never answer. When I checked the voicemail, a woman named Anna was asking for John about the Eon account related to the charity. Problem is, I'm not John, and I have nothing to do with their electricity account.

I keep getting calls from this number every Tuesday morning. I usually don’t answer, but once I ended up talking to someone who was pushing cheaper electricity deals for our local village hall charity. I’m not interested though, since we already have someone who’s done all the research for us and found a proper supplier with a good rate. Plus, our contract is locked in for two years, so no need to change anything.

Pretty much the same as loads of others i've seen - this lady with an asian accent kept asking for the village hall treasurer. She said she was calling from Better Business Services in London when i pushed her a bit. But when i asked for a full address she just cut me off! Bit cheeky if you ask me. Given how many calls like this are happening, i reckon these numbers might be linked to info found on the Charity Commission's public listings.

I keep getting calls every Tuesday morning from a number like 02080894875 or something quite close to it. I usually just let it ring, but once I accidentally spoke to someone from a similar 02080 number. They kept insisting they could lower the electricity bills for our local village hall charity. Honestly, I’m not interested since we already have a trusted person who’s sorted out a proper deal with a legit UK supplier. Our contract runs for another two years anyway, so no need to switch.

Got a call from a number I didn’t know, so I just let it ring through to voicemail. There was a lady with an Asian accent asking to speak with me about the Local Village Hall. Since I’m not connected with the Village Hall anymore and everyone who worked with me knows I’ve retired, I thought it might be dodgy and decided not to call back.

Got a voicemail from someone I think was from a call centre, most likely India, but they didn’t say which company or why they were calling. Feels like it might be one of those utility scams to me.

They keep ringing constantly wanting to talk to our treasurer, even after I explained we just rent the space and dont handle any payments. The worst part is they call so early in the morning, its really messing with my sleep schedule.

Definitely sounded like a call centre with a bunch of different people answering. They kept asking for the charity’s treasurer and said something about switching me to a zero standing charge. They insisted they weren’t changing suppliers or anything but wanted me to send over my last account bill, account numbers and MPAN details. Pretty obvious a total scam.

Has anyone else noticed scammers using the charity commision website to find info about people? Seems like theyre trying to target folks who are involved with charities. Pretty sneaky if you ask me. Keep an eye out, I wouldnt trust random calls from numbers linked to charities.

I'm just here by my phone, and it hasn't rung at all but I've got a voicemail notification. The message was about needing the Treasurer at my charity to sign a form about a fixed tariff deal supposedly made with British Gas Lite. They also sent an email with a link I’m not touching, and they keep ringing me a couple of times most days.

They were wanting to speak to the company treasurer about some kind of utility bill. The call had loads of background noise and everyone sounded like they had Indian accents, so I reckon it might have been one of those scam call centres.

They called asking to speak to the Treasurer of the charity about our electricity bills. When I said they couldn’t talk at the moment, they asked when would be a better time to call back so they could connect us!

This number persistently tries to reach my wife, despite the fact that she's already blocked it. It's rather irritating, to say the least!
