I got this voicemail from some robocall with a proper British accent, going on about a final notice and threatening an arrest warrant if I didn’t ring them back. It sounded dead legit at first, so I actually phoned the number (which I really shouldn’t have). Turned out to be some American voicemail with no mention of HMRC at all. Totally fake and sketchy. Definitely phishing - felt really creepy.

I keep getting calls all the time where they claim it’s the last warning before I get arrested for dodging tax. So, I rang back today just to see what’s what. The bloke on the line was rubbish, saying he was from HMRC and wanted my phone number to check my records. I told him it was strange they hadn’t sent me any official letter and also why would they ask for my phone number instead of my UTR? Then he just ended the call. Proper scam if you ask me.

Got a creepy automated message the other day, it was all threatening like saying my home’s being watched and if I don’t ring back I’ll get in trouble with the law or something. People behind these calls are just awful! I realise these scams are pretty common now but it really worries me thinking about older folks getting these kind of calls, they might actually believe it and it must be so stressful for them.
