Beware of this washing machine scam! When you call back, they’ll claim there’s a technical issue they're fixing right now. Whatever the government’s stance is, they really need to step in because these scammers must be operating from the UK, and BT should be held accountable. It’s not fair these crooks use BT UK numbers to trick people and rob them. Please, make sure to contact your MP about this - imagine someone ringing your elderly relatives asking for money, or targeting folks on low incomes. It’s not acceptable. You’ll find your MP’s contact in the phone book, so don’t hesitate to report it.
