I had a similar experience over a grand, but when they asked for a £100 iTunes card, I was pleased to recognise it as a complete scam. No way I was going to be gullible enough to get caught in that trap!

I received a message claiming that I had been granted a loan of £2000. When I mentioned I was actually after £4000, they assured me it was no trouble at all. Their only requirement was that I fetch £170 worth of iTunes vouchers, provide them with the codes, and then they would release the funds. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!
