Beware of a group speaking with an Indian accent claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse - they’re actually con artists. They tempt you with ridiculously cheap offers, then gather your personal info, which they use with other networks like O2 or Vodafone to order phones in your name and send them to your address. When you receive a phone that’s not the one you ordered, they tell you it’s a mistake and ask you to send it back to their own address so they can “fix” the order. Meanwhile, they’ve basically placed phones in your name and then collected them again at their place. When you check with the mobile providers, you realise you’ve been duped. When you receive this unexpected phone, they tell you it’s a mix-up and ask you to send it back to an address they give you. Basically, they’re ordering phones in your name, shipping them to you, then getting you to return the items to their own address. When you contact the actual mobile providers about the phones, that’s when you realise you’re the victim of a scam. Please, if you come across anything like this, make sure you report it to the police, Action Fraud, and any relevant mobile operators. It’s important we try to stop these scammers before they trick anyone else!
