Sounds like a scam to me, got a call saying i owe some cash to Sainsbury's energy through Eon, but i actually live with my in-laws and dont deal with any bills. Definitely fishy.

Judging by what people have said here, I reckon the call might have been from Eon Next. The person on the line didn’t really speak much English and left us a voicemail, so I couldn’t tell what it was about. The same number also rang my mobile, but I just ignored it.

Got a call from 020 8051 4909 with a dodgy accent, something about EON I think, but couldn’t catch most of it. They asked me to ring back on 0808 561 5407. Didn’t bother and just blocked the number.

I received a call from this number today. I kept responding with “hello, hello, HELLO!” but they hung up on me. To be honest, I don’t know any numpties from London!

This number is definitely a scam. The scammers were unaware that I had my meter removed five years ago. Removing the meter was the best decision I ever made.

Some woman claimed to be from Eon Next, saying she wanted to talk about a new tariff I’d supposedly been emailed about - which I never was. She then started asking for personal details like my name and address, and after that wanted my date of birth. I stopped answering after that since I couldn’t be sure she was legit.

I received a call from a representative of E.ON Next, claiming that I was eligible for a 50% discount on my electricity bill. Honestly, it struck me as rather dodgy. The chap on the other end seemed a bit out of it, and I struggled to make sense of what he was saying.

I received a call from a company called Eon initially. The person on the line seemed untrustworthy so I ended the call. I contacted Eon again and got the information I required. Later, my phone rang and it was an individual from this same number claiming, "I am not a complete fool!" Well, my friend, that is certainly debatable. I have informed Eon about this incident, so perhaps you should consider hiding your own number next time you want to express your anger towards someone over the phone, you absolute disgraceful individual.

I reached out to Eon recently with a few queries, but 'Pete' on the other end wasn’t exactly a beacon of assistance, so I ended the call. To my surprise, just ten minutes later, I received a call from this 020 number. It was ‘Pete’ again, insisting that he wasn’t a ‘complete numpty’. This was after he had the audacity to label my inquiry as ‘suspicious’. I daresay this isn’t the typical standard of service one expects from Eon's call centre. If anything, Pete is certainly deserving of the title 'complete numpty', and quite a bit more. Someone needs to put these clowns in their place soon!

An individual requested my bank details and claimed that a payment needed to be made into my account. However, I quickly recognized the situation as a scam and promptly ended the call.

Picked up the phone and before I could speak, they just cut me off - obvious scam stuff.

Phone rang and they used my first name, saying they wanted to talk about payment and our finances. We have a smart meter, so that was a bit odd. They asked me to be fair or something like that. I told them there’s nothing to discuss, then they said they needed to speak to someone else and asked me to hold. I said no, ended the call and blocked the number.

I received a legitimate call from E-On Next regarding the installation of a new meter. The young lady on the phone was exceptionally courteous, simply requesting to verify my address and phone number. I had no worries whatsoever.

This bloke from eon called me just using my first name and asked for my info, I told him no since he rang me he should already have my details. He got a bit annoyed and said they needed to talk about my account. I told him it's all paid up so there's nothing to chat about. Then he just hung up straight away.

I reckon this number belongs to EON for sure. I had a chat with a woman who seemed to know an awful lot about my ombudsman issue - far too much, in fact, for it to be a spoof. Following our conversation, I checked my ombudsman account and her details matched up perfectly. No doubt about it, it's definitely EON!

I received a voicemail purporting to be from EON Next, asking me to give them a call back. They even mentioned my surname, which raises a few red flags for me. Based on what I’ve read in previous comments, this doesn’t seem quite right.

Got a call from some woman with a funny accent, really monotone and hard to get what she was saying. She sounded like she wanted me to ring her back on this number, though she didn’t actually leave one straight away, just 1471. The message time showed 0208- 051-4909. Honestly, I find these unexpected calls annoying enough, but when they’re from someone foreign and barely clear, it just makes me think it’s dodgy.

The english was really bad, I had no clue who was ringing, and I couldn’t explain who I was either. I phoned back and got through to an ‘Eon switchboard’, but it wasnt the official Eon customer service 0808 number. Watch out!

Yesterday (20th Oct) I got a call from someone named Mitchel claiming to be from EonNext. He wanted me to ring back on what sounded like EonNext's valid number, but I didn't call. Then today (21st Oct) he rang again, asking to verify some security details to chat about my account. I told him I couldn't be sure he was really from EonNext and he had no proper response. About 20 minutes later, another call came from the same number but with a different person asking for someone they said lived here - but we don't know that name at all. Feels like a dodgy scam to me!

If 02080514909 is really running an energy scam, how come they’re still using phone lines to do this dodgy stuff? If they’vve got free rein to trick vulnerable people, then phone companies need to be responsible as well, they cant just sit back and ignore it…

Got a call today claiming to be from EON Next, saying I needed to arrange a payment plan for a final bill. Their voice was so faint and unclear, I could only catch my first name being used. Definitely not EON. Total scam, avoid!

Received a call just now from someone purporting to be from Eon Next. They said they needed to ask me a few security questions. However, I've already arranged everything with all my providers through my email, which is the sole method I use to converse with anyone apart from calling them directly. When I firmly told her to get lost, she sounded quite taken aback! Scammers, do one!

This entire episode feels rather peculiar and I can't shake the feeling it’s a rather brazen scam aimed at harvesting personal information.

I neglected to ask if there was any record of the dodgy calls I received-something I now regret. I’m inclined to think this is likely a scam, but there could very well be individuals within Eon who are unwittingly involved and leaking personal information. If you happen to receive a call from this number, don’t disclose any personal details. Just reach out to Eon directly.

A few days back, I received a call from this number. The woman on the line claimed to be from Eon, but I couldn't help but feel suspicious. I confronted her, saying she sounded like a scammer and insisted that I had no debts with Eon whatsoever. Then today, another individual rung me up from the same number. I chose not to engage and promptly blocked the number. Quite frankly, I’ve had enough of these unsolicited calls!

I chose not to pick up this call since I have no business in London. I've decided to block the number after receiving this call on the 21st of July, 2022, at 10:40.

+44 20 8051 4909 keeps ringing my 12 year old daughter’s new phone, which is on a plan under my name. They claim to be from Eon Next about utility services in Salford! We’re based in Norfolk and she’s just 12 lol

After reading the comments here, I’m curious how they manage to get hold of some folks personal details. Got a call earlier today saying I owed money on my recently closed Eon account, and they even quoted the exact amount down to the last penny. The bloke had an Indian/Pakistani accent. Felt like a scam since I’ve got a direct debit and already got my final bill. I rang Eon myself after seeing this site and all the bad reviews, worried about my personal details. They told me it was one of their numbers, someone called Sai spoke to me, but said I shouldn’t have been contacted because my direct debit was active. Seems a bit sketchy but apparently it’s a genuine Eon number.
