6 yearsJust like others have mentioned, they claimed I’d agreed to sponsor some school info booklet and tried to get me to pay immediately with a ‘special discount’. I didn’t remember speaking to them at all, so I told them no and asked them to send me an invoice instead. The cost was £268.95, which included a discount if I settled it within the week.6 yearsWe got a letter asking for £210 for supposedly backing a school magazine, which we never agreed to. They’d even sent us the mag with a label stuck on the back showing our company’s name and address, saying we were ‘sponsors.’ When we rang them, they tried to tempt us with a £30 discount if we paid right away. We told them to send an invoice because we hadn’t signed up for anything and it all felt fishy. Turns out, our instincts were spot on.6 yearsI got a call from someone saying she was Suzanne Jones, probably not her real name, from some CIC. She said my business had backed an anti-bullying campaign in January, which I never agreed to. She even had my full name and company details. She mentioned some books were all set to be sent out, maybe they do print and send stuff to schools so technically they might be okay legally. But they’re basically tricking you into paying invoices, and I really doubt their actions make any real difference.
