Total scam! They claimed to have my ID plus seven more people’s and tried to trick me into giving my details to prove who I was. When I asked for their badge number, they just ended the call. I rang the police station afterwards and they said they’d never heard of the person and that it’s definitely a scam.

Sounds like a total scam to me. I've had calls like this loads of times from someone with an Asian accent, not sure exactly where from, but they say they're from EE. Every time I tell them I’m not with EE, it just gets worse. I ended up shouting at them to stop bothering me and said they were a scam call centre. Did that stop them? Of course not, they rang back again so I just yelled and slammed the phone down.
