I received a dodgy phone call from someone purporting to be associated with Ecotricity. They seemed to have my supply numbers down pat but were clearly trying to pry into my personal details, including my Mpan number and my name. They asserted there was some sort of mistake with the meter reading. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Every time, I tell them I won't share anything on the phone and that they need to contact me by letter. They keep pushing though, so in the end I just hang up on them. When I came back, I flat out refused to give any info. He tried to argue he had permission, but I asked who exactly had given that, and he just rambled as I ended the call. After that I said cheers for the call and ended the convo. Don't fall for these kinda calls, seems like a total scam. If your boiler is on the blink, best thing is to call a proper plumber or ask someone you trust to sort it out for you.

Bit fishy if you ask me.

I received a phone call from a chap purporting to represent British Gas - he had a South Asian accent and you could hear the usual din of a call centre in the background, which made it quite tough to follow what he was saying. However, when I turned the tables and began inquiring about their credentials, the whole story began to unravel rather quickly. At one point, I asked for the website of their 'Meter Readings Department', and, rather amusingly, I overheard someone in the background urgently instructing him to 'hang up'. And so he did! Clearly, this was a dodgy operation, but it's quite unclear what their ultimate aim was.

When I inquired about getting through to accounts, he became rather impolite. Honestly, I couldn't help but question if he took me for a fool! I mean, come on, smart meters exist for a reason!

Got a call from someone claiming to be EDF, but it was a dodgy scam. They had loads of info about my account which was worrying. After I hung up, I contacted EDF directly and they told me the caller was actually some broker firm. Apparently, they snag details from the national database and if your contract’s nearly finished, they shift your info to another energy supplier without asking, so they get paid for it. Totally a scam if you ask me. EDF also said these scammers often grab info from online comparison sites. I've blocked the number now.

I got a call from this number, purporting to be EDF Energy, saying there was an issue with our meter readings. From the outset, the whole thing seemed a bit fishy, so I decided to cut the conversation short and hang up. They tried to reach us two more times, but we chose not to answer. After that, we contacted EDF directly and they assured us that they hadn’t made any calls to us today. Apparently, there’s been some sort of data breach, and they're on heightened alert now. Quite worrying, really!

She then rang back, insisting that they required this information right away, stating they were EON but collaborating with various utility firms and just needed any invoice. I made it clear that I wasn't falling for it and told her firmly not to contact us again.

I received a rather persistent call from someone with a thick accent who was adamant that my company had an outstanding balance for a utility bill dating back four years. The thing is, we vacated that premises back in 2020! Once it dawned on him, he suddenly insisted that the debt was actually concerning our current address. His determination was quite remarkable; even after I ended the call, he had the audacity to ring me back - not once, but three times! Quite the amusing encounter, really!
