Got a call from this number, some woman with a heavy accent, sounded quite rough, saying she was from Facebook. She said she had chatted with my colleague “Matt” recently, but I don’t work with anyone named Matt. Then she said she’d send me a link to verify my page. I already have the blue tick for years though. Told her that and she insisted the tick was gone from my account, which was not true. I ended the call and she rang back after about 20 minutes but I didn’t pick up. I’m definitely planning to block this number. Sounds like a scam to me.

What’s weird is that recently, this same number has popped up quite a bit on my Facebook, suggesting I get in touch with Meta marketing pro experts about ads. Thing is, I never booked any call with them nor requested one at all.

Yeah, this is actually a legit number from Meta. They ring you up to encourage spending a bit more on Facebook ads. Nothing dodgy here, it's just a sales chat. I've been in touch with the Meta "Marketing Pros" for quite a while, and every now and then, they do offer some useful advice. Most likely, they’re calling because you’ve either just upped your ad budget or started using ads recently.

I can confirm this number is legit for Meta. I work in digital marketing and have been in touch with my account manager for more than a year now. We've communicated a lot through Facebook support tickets and emails, and this number pops up pretty regularly when they ring.

So, the call was actually from the Meta Pro Team. I requested they send me an email, which they did, coming from a @business.facebook.com address. Later on, I got another email for a second meeting, this time from @support.facebook.com. The person on the phone was able to access past campaign data and stats, so I’m pretty sure this was a genuine call.

Someone called me saying they were from Meta, but the person they kept talking about as our Meta account manager has never been part of our team. So, I doubt they actually have any connection to Meta or access to their info.
