5 yearsthis was defo a scam, dont trust this number!5 yearsSome accident claims people called me, I told them I was Inspector Morse, and the bloke just goes "you're not!" then when I asked to chat to his manager, he wouldn't do it. Proper nuisance!Morse5 yearsGot a phone call today about some supposed car crash but it was just a scam. Beware of these fake accident stories.5 yearsI haven’t got a clue who this was, they just rang and hung up straight away. Strange!5 yearsI've gone ahead and blocked this number - definitely looks like a scam to me.5 yearsGot a call but they didn’t leave any voicemail or anything.5 yearsI received a call from someone who had a distinctly Indian accent. They were quite courteous but didn’t share their name, instead inquiring about mine. They claimed to be representing a furniture company. Honestly, I could feel my skepticism levels rising; it was hard to believe a word of what they were saying!5 yearsI've received repeated calls from this number, claiming to discuss a road traffic incident. When I politely informed them that there’s been no accident on our part, the caller shockingly said something ridiculous about having been with me the previous night. Absolute nonsense!5 yearsI had a run-in with a right dodgy character claiming there’d been a car crash involving my vehicle. Total con artist, as I’ve not seen any accident at all! Cut off all contact with them.5 years"I recently tried to get in touch with the RTA regarding a trivial little bump that happened within the past couple of years, involving either me, a relative, or a mate. But alas, my inquiry has been met with silence."RTA5 yearsGoodness, what a strong Indian accent that chap had! I had to politely request he use clearer English next time he rings. It was quite the experience, I must say!5 yearsBlimey! Did you really have to ask if it was enjoyable? Because frankly, it was absolutely dreadful for me! 😂5 years“Regarding that little mishap from a couple of years back... I’m convinced I’ve had a natter with this chap on another number before. He always kicks it off with something like ‘Good day, ma’am! How are you today?’ If I hadn’t just stumbled out of a rather taxing meeting, I might have had a bit of fun with him. The last time I encountered one of these callers, I handed it over to my son, and he had a whale of a time spinning a yarn about a fictitious accident where a dog in the passenger seat was rather worse for wear... After about half an hour, he finally ‘confessed’ that the incident took place four decades ago! I nearly felt a twinge of sympathy for the poor scammer, honestly, lol!”5 yearsI received a call from a chap named Sebastian, claiming to be with Henderson Brokers. He had quite the strong accent and insisted on speaking to my other half. When I probed for more details, he became rather vague. I’ve decided to block the number.SebastianHenderson Brokers5 yearsI posted an advert on Gumtree and, almost immediately, I was inundated with a flood of dodgy calls regarding fake traffic accidents from a plethora of different numbers! I definitely need to have a chat with Gumtree about this situation!Gumtree5 yearsI received a rather unsettling call related to a car crash. When I inquired, “Which incident are you referring to?”, he casually mentioned 2019 - which is nonsensical. What’s particularly concerning is that he knew my name. I've only recently begun receiving these dodgy calls and messages, so I can only surmise that an online store I've engaged with has irresponsibly passed on my information. I consistently opt-out of any data sharing. Thankfully, my smartphone gives me a heads up about potentially dodgy numbers.5 yearsI received a call from an “Indian” chap yesterday. Instinctively, I felt it was some sort of verification attempt aimed at linking your name to a phone number and then your address. Like yourself, I can’t help but ponder who has been selling or sharing my information. It appears that simply asking for details or information about anything these days means you inadvertently give your consent to join their marketing schemes, according to their terms and conditions. It’s utterly ridiculous if you ask me. I conducted a little experiment with Currys, changing the spelling of my name and slapping “RN” at the end. I tried a similar trick with three or four other retailers while promising confidentiality, and lo and behold - six to eight months later, a deluge of junk started arriving in my letterbox with all those name variations. The takeaway? Set up a separate email specifically for such rubbish and unwanted solicitations. While it’s a bit of a hassle, it’s taught me that you can hardly trust anyone who asks for your trust in the first place.CurrysRNSubmit Your Own Report (020 8004 6663)
