I picked up the call, but it cut off after just a few moments.

Our reception keeps getting calls from someone called Steve Williams from London. He’s left quite a few messages, but when you try ringing the number back, it just rings and then suddenly starts playing the theme song from "You Only Live Twice." It’s pretty irritating.

There was this lady from Mobile Citi in London who was trying to sell mobile phones.

Just got a call from this number a moment ago.

Some bloke told me I’d won a prize in the lottery, so I just said cheers to myself and put the phone down.

This number gave me a ring, claiming to be from O2. They were saying they’d cover the costs of my contract (£427 to cancel early, which runs until December 2023) and even promised to send me an iPhone 13 the very next day. They insisted my new monthly bill would only be £30 with everything I currently have included. I let them ramble on, but being deaf in one ear made it tricky, so I instructed them to email all the details and ship the phone too. Afterwards, I contacted O2 directly to sift through the information and pointed out how dodgy it sounded. They confirmed what I suspected - it’s a load of old rubbish, just disregard it. I even had a bit of banter with the O2 guy and asked him, “You’re genuinely from O2, right?” to which he replied affirmatively. I was sceptical about some third party nonsense. Then when he started to take my details, he fished for my name. I cheekily said, “You should have it already!” to which he said he needed to verify it. So I said, “It’s Paul Lynch,” and then he took an eternity asking how to spell it - I couldn’t help but chuckle. Then just about half an hour ago, the “accountant” called me to finalise the so-called details. He mentioned sending me a code to read back, so I agreed. Sure enough, he messaged me, but it was from an O2 number - I could see the prior messages! To my amusement, the message warned me about fraud and advised to never share the code with anyone, not even an O2 representative. I couldn’t stop laughing! He then asked if I had the code, and I told him, “Oh yeah, I've got it, but you’re not getting it!” He was perplexed and asked why, to which I shot back, “Because it’s a scam, and I’ve just received a message from O2 confirming it.” He hung up on me faster than you could say ‘dodgy’. 😂😂😂 It’s slightly unnerving how they’ve got technology to spoof actual O2 messages. If that warning hadn’t popped up, I might’ve thought it was all above board. It’s proper shady!

If someone kicks off with "How are you today," chances are they're trying to scam you, just like this caller did.

I had the misfortune of getting bombarded by the same dodgy caller a staggering FOUR times this morning, and they had the cheek to wake me from my slumber!

This number has rang me twice now after I put something up for sale on Gumtree. They say there’s a special deal on a mobile phone or something. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

She asked how I was, so I said it depends who she is, and then the lady just told me to go straight to hell!

Whenever I get a call from a number that isn’t local, I usually look it up before I even pick up. If I spot any reviews or notes saying it’s a telemarketer or some kind of sales pitch, I just let it ring out and don’t bother answering. Then, I save that number in a folder labelled ‘telemarketers’ so I know better next time. If they call again, I just hit ignore straight away. I managed to fill my old phone with over 300 of those numbers after about a year - it’s really nice knowing I can dodge all those unwanted calls now.

I’ve had a right run of dodgy calls since I put up an ad on Gumtree-this marks the fourth one! So infuriating! 😡

Seems like they’re keen on getting me to level up! 😂😂

Had a woman on the phone, voice was all garbled and confusing. She kicked off with the typical "Hi, my name is..." and then asked how I was doing. Utter rubbish. If the call was important, surely she'd say her company name right away. Straight in the bin with the others!
