I had a rather peculiar phone call from a woman named Alice, who somehow had my address. She inquired whether I was inundated with marketing calls, to which I candidly confirmed (this likely being one of them). Most times, I manage to avoid them with my trusty answering machine, but today I found myself picking up out of sheer boredom. As soon as I answered, she promptly ended the call. On another occasion, I let the chat go on for a bit longer as they were touting a complimentary screening service. However, it took a questionable turn when they asked for my bank card number, specifically needing it separated by dashes for activation. That was the moment I decided to hang up.
