Got a call from an unknown number with a robotic voice saying something about 'changing my router IP address for free' and to 'press 1 to speak to a technician'. I've got two voicemail messages from today and yesterday now. I checked the number with 1471 and it's '02079678188'. The '020' is London, and '7967' points to Kensington. Those last digits, '8188', still need a bit of digging to find out where this scam is really coming from. Feels like a right con job!

These phone numbers are a nightmare, full of scammers and hackers. They bother you first on your home phone, then try your mobile. They ring just a few times before hanging up. They’ve got to be kidding, honestly. Never pick up calls from unknown numbers. Total idiots.

When I said no way, he tried to scare me with some rubbish about my smart meter reading wrong. As soon as I challenged him, he just ended the call!

Was a bit hard to catch what she was saying, but pretty sure she said she worked for Marks & Spencer ;) Then she began trying to read back my surname and postcode.

The first time they rang, all I could hear was the typical call centre chatter before they just dropped the line. Next time, a bloke with an Indian accent called, asked for me by my name, then started saying "You live at..." and proceeded to rattle off my full address. I kept quiet and asked who was calling instead. He claimed to be from Marks & Spencer, repeated my address once more, but when I asked what he wanted to discuss, he just ended the call abruptly.
