I've received the same text message, but I’m a bit confused about how to respond. Has anyone managed to reply to those ‘quit’ texts?

These individuals persistently siphon funds from our mobile devices.

I received a text message prompting us to respond, warning that failure to do so would result in a charge of £7.50 per week from these individuals.

I recently received a text message that said, "FreeMsg. You're about to join WTEST for a charge of £7.50 per month, plus a £3 joining fee. To cancel this, just text 'quit' to 83001. For more info, reply YES to this message." I'm quite baffled, as I've never signed up for anything like this before. Is it likely these folks could actually take money from me? Should I go ahead and text 'quit' to stop it or is it better to just ignore the whole thing? Any thoughts on what I should do?

Our son found himself in the same predicament and ended up exhausting her entire credit! To be fair, we reached out to the company, and they were marvellous; they terminated all outstanding text messages and blocked the number from their service. We couldn't have asked for a better response, and they were incredibly supportive throughout the process. Hope this information proves useful!

I had a chat with a couple of phone shop staff earlier on regarding that message I received. They both recommended against replying to it and suggested I monitor my billing closely. If I notice any deductions, I should definitely notify my provider right away.

Received a text message labelled FreeMsg alerting us that we’re on the verge of being charged £6.00 a month plus an additional £3.00 if we didn't reply with "STOP". I reached out to Virgin, and they confirmed that we ought to send that cancellation message. Thankfully, we've now managed to unsubscribe from a service we never signed up for in the first place!

Just ping them with a text saying "STOP" to 83001. You won’t be charged a penny!

I kindly request the cancellation of our contract as we no longer require your services. I would appreciate it if you could refrain from deducting any funds from our phone balance. The associated telephone number is 07754467670, and you can reach us at [email protected]. We have no interest in continuing with your offerings. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Absolutely frustrating! They keep ringing but never bother to leave a message. Now I'm left in the dark, completely clueless about who it could be.

I cannot believe what has transpired! These individuals have been siphoning off the top-up credit meant for our 12-year-old daughter. I added a tenner to his phone on Wednesday and by Thursday, every penny had vanished. We're demanding our money back; if it’s not sorted, we’ll be escalating this to the Watchdog and considering further legal measures. Altogether, it seems there are about 40 others affected by this debacle until I can put an end to it.

It appears that there’s a recurring charge of £1.50 being taken from our mobile phone bill consistently.

We received the same message this evening, and it feels like fraud to us. We've never signed up for anything remotely similar, and we intend to reach out to O2 tomorrow as well as Offcom. What worries us is that when we send a cancellation text, will they interpret that as an invitation to continue? Are we going to be billed for the message, only to find the same thing happening again next week? Where does this end? If we ring this 0207 number, will we be looking at extortionate charges of £20 a minute?

Received the same message, and the moment we texted 'stop', we got a confirmation of cancellation. Yet, we suspect that saying 'stop' might actually mean we agreed to the first £7.50 charge. So, we'll be keeping a close eye on our phone bill. What we really want to know, though, is how these companies can enrol individuals without any proper consent.

This afternoon, I received a rather curious message. I decided to give Three a quick call to get clued up on the situation, and they suggested that I steer clear of engaging with the sender. They recommended I check back in a few weeks to see if anything unusual appears on our bill. So, it seems the consensus is to absolutely avoid replying!

I’m at my wit's end with these individuals continually siphoning money from our mobile phone account-it’s incredibly frustrating! Is there anyone out there who can offer some assistance with this predicament?

I received a text message titled FreeMsg that stated I was on track to start being charged £6.00 a month, plus an additional £3.00, unless I replied with "STOP". It also suggested ringing 02079596124 for further clarification. I reached out to Virgin, and they confirmed that I should indeed send the cancellation message. Thankfully, I’ve now successfully unsubscribed from a service I never actually signed up for in the first place!

What's the process for taking legal action against these individuals and retrieving my funds?

Absolutely infuriating!

I just received the same message, and honestly, I'm not keen on replying with 'stop' as it seems like it would be interpreted as agreeing to that initial £7.50 charge. It's puzzling why one would need to text them to end it when the intent is really to clarify things. Has anyone got any further insights on this?

How do you go about taking legal action against these individuals to reclaim your funds?

Received a message saying, "FreeMsg: You’re on the verge of joining WIQ5 for £7.50 a week, on top of a £3 sign-up fee. If you wish to cancel, just text 'quit' to 83001. SP Blinck 02079596124. To confirm, please reply with 'YES' to this message." I've reached out to Vodafone about this and will be informing the police shortly. I’ll do my best to return here and update everyone once I’ve made some headway on this matter.
